Even at the higher price point I fell in love with the first PS3 and picked one up as soon as I could. I loved the look, the Bluray functionality but,…unless you live in a sterile environment the console was a pain to keep clean. Also there were far fewer games to choose from than the XBox, it got hot as a skillet and then the final kicker, XBox came out with a model that cost half as much, so the old PS3 went back to the store. That was a couple of years ago and an old XBox which I gave away to my nephew. When Sony recently announced the new pricing and design changes I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one. The changes with the surface, from shiny to matte are a positive for sure. The unit is smaller than my old stand alone Bluray player and with space being at a premium having a smaller unit that does the work of two components is great. Speaking of which, after watching two movies so far that old Bluray player of mine is now boxed and going bye bye. You don’t need two taking up shelf space especially when the Sony picture and sound quality is so much better. I am really glad I also picked up the Blutooth remote, only twenty bucks at Wally World and makes watching DVDs very simple, plus it works IMHO far better than IR remotes but you must link it up using one of the PS3 menu options before you use it the first time. I also really like the wifi, especially for upgrades the usb route is just too slow. All in all IMHO, I feel, got more and better than the original for a lot less. Only two caveats, one during the original wifi setup the system locked up, I had to force it to power down e.g. unplugged it but then the controller would not function. To fix depress round reset button on bottom of controller, press PS3 button on controller and you are good, the 4 flashing lights stop, thankfully. Also, had a very weird glitch not even Sony knew how to fix. The PS3 would not load any cd, dvd, etc. Sony couldn’t fix it and advised me to return the unit. Miraculously while I was sitting and stewing a blank dvd I sacrificed by forcing it into the player somehow reset and started to spin after about thirty minutes. At that point all was good again and I was able to eject and load again with no issues. Still though, it would be nice to know why or what was going on to cause this and how it fixed itself. All in all I think there will be a lot of new happy PS3-Slim owners in the near future, as well as a few happy table dancing Sony execs. Job well done Sony, just remember you snooze you lose and XBox and Wii are right on your heals.

The slim system is one of the best game system ever build, pack about sound and graphic and comes in at an okay pricing, easy to take on trips.
