While Steam regularly hosts limited-time discounts as part of weekend and seasonal events, the VR Weekend marks the first time that a major catalog-spanning Steam sale has targeted VR games specifically. Valve’s online digital storefront has seen a rapid rise in VR content recently, ranging from updates that enable VR support in existing games to dedicated virtual reality experiences like the Star Wars-themed Trials on Tatooine and Nvidia’s VR Funhouse.
Over the course of this weekend, players can pick up top-rated Steam VR releases like the flashy FPS Space Pirate Trainer, undersea exploration game Subnautica, first-person RPG Vanishing Realms, and acclaimed billiards sim Pool Nation VR.
Sim-styled games are a particular focus for Valve’s VR Weekend Sale, which offers discounts for the massive-scale space simulation Universe Sandbox, interstellar trading game Elite: Dangerous, and the DIY game design toolkit Tabletop Simulator, among many other featured titles.
Also on tap are less conventional VR experiences like the “advanced zombie preparation tool” Zombie Training Simulator, acrobat sim Felt Tip Circus, and the environmental destruction game Catlateral Damage, which puts players in control of a mischievous feline on a costly rampage.
Featured HTC Vive and Oculus Rift games see discounts ranging from 10 to 50 percent off of their regularly advertised Steam prices throughout this coming weekend. The Steam VR Weekend Sale ends on Monday.
