Dan Patrick pulls a good deal of weight when it comes to sports broadcasting, so it’s not surprising that he lands some of the biggest and baddest guests in the sports realm. He was the flagship anchor for SportsCenter for what seemed like ages, but his independent show — available for download in three hour-long segments — offers a bit of a different take. Patrick may not ask the hard-hitting questions, but he often asks the ones you want to hear. |

This one is for all you fantasy sports lovers out there. Hosts Matthew Berry and Nate Ravitz provide some of the best daily fantasy football insight, from player previews and strategy, to make sure you’re up to snuff with what’s going on. It’s fairly straightforward and a bit bland at times, but incredibly helpful if you want a little guidance. Be sure to check out the rest of EPSN Fantasy Focus lineup while you’re at it. |

Bill Simmons, editor-of-chief of ESPN’s Grantland.com, often showcases a surprising amount of pop culture knowledge (as well an over-the-top love for Boston sports) when it comes to his podcast. The show is entertaining, whether Simmons’ guests are sports stars or just his buds, and is available several times a week. Don’t hesitate to listen if you’re not a hardcore sports fan either, the show has just as much pop culture and current event references as it does sports, so even the casual sports fan isn’t overwhelmed. |

Although Sklarbro Country is more of a comedy bit than a sports show, hosts Randy and Jason Sklar cover all sorts of sports stories and topics that may have been missed by some of the bigger, mainstream sports networks. Guests can include everyone from Glenn Franklin Howerton of It’s Always Sunnny in Philadelphia to actor Jon Hamm, but comedians are the ones that typically characterize the bill. We find it funny, but you probably don’t want to take the show too seriously. Sometimes they talk about the band Creed, which is a bit of a bummer. |

Online magazine Slate dishes out the Hang Up and Listen podcast weekly. It features Slate sports editor Josh Levin, writer Stefan Fatsis, and NPR sports reporter Mike Pesca to name a few. They usually just discuss the big sports headlines for the week and look ahead regarding what’s coming up in the world of sports. The commentary, although a bit bland, is solid and well thought out. |

The Mike O’Meara Show FTW!
I came here to add TMOS to the list too! TMOS is easily the best podcast out there, in part because the people working on the show are radio professionals. They know how to be funny, entertaining and compelling, and they do say day after day.
How dare you sir! I learned of this site from The Mike O’Meara show, found at mikeomearashow.com. It is by far the best podcast. Comedy, news and informative in one awesome 80 minute podcast. Not to mention if you are into pure, good quality audio, The Mike O’meara show has by far this best audio quality out there. Respect given where it is deserved. But if you don’t believe me check them out. 80 minutes and you’ll be hooked.
The Mike O’Meara Show for comedy (it’s free and also can be streamed from their website: mikeomearashow.com) and Tech411 for tech.
‘Toppers with Gil for comedy. And music.
