The Call of Duty series has featured some dastardly villains over the years, with Advanced Warfare‘s Kevin Spacey performance standing out in particular, but this year’s Infinite Warfare looks like it may take the cake. Kit Harington’s Salen Kotch, the leader of the powerful Settlement Defense Front, will kill you without a second thought — indeed, he’s as cold as ice (or in this case, snow … Jon Snow, the Game of Thrones character for which Harington is best known).
“Our world is just beginning. Theirs is dying,” Kotch says in the game’s story trailer, which offers the first in-game look at Harington’s character. “It is not enough to break free. We will break them.”
After an attack that left not only Geneva, Switzerland, crippled, but also a gateway portal on the moon, Captain Nick Reyes takes over command of one of the only surviving ships, the Retribution. He’s joined by Sgt. Omar, played by Homeland’s David Harewood, but standing in his way is not just Kit Harington, but also UFC superstar Conor McGregor, who promptly punches him in the face. That’s one punch we certainly don’t want to take.
The trailer features the usual Call of Duty flair — there are plenty of explosions and giant set pieces — but it also gives us a glimpse of the environments we’ll be seeing. A yellowish, smoke-filled atmosphere is briefly visible as a ship flies overhead, which would fit Activision’s promise that the game will extend “beyond the reaches of Earth into the vast expanse of our solar system.”
“This place … isn’t yours anymore,” Harington’s Kotch says with a stone-cold expression. “Kill them. Save the bullet.”
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare arrives to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 4. PlayStation 4 owners will have early access to the game’s multiplayer beta, which begins on October 14. The console will also feature a PlayStation VR-exclusive mission.
