For the fourth-generation Echo Dot, Amazon replaces the puck design with an attention-grabbing spherical shape, but not at the expense of audio quality. The sound produced by the device, through a 1.6-inch front-firing speaker that delivers crisp highs and a full-sounding bass, is impressive for its size.

The Echo Dot still delivers the conveniences provided by Amazon’s Alexa. The digital assistant is capable of acting on voice commands for a variety of functions, including playing songs from a range of streaming services, answering questions, and controlling connected smart home devices, among many other features.
