Want to hear Siri quack like a duck? Install the new iOS update for iPhone

Apple has released a new software update for iPhone. Dubbed iOS 14.3, it brings a number of new features, as well as the usual bug fixes, security enhancements, and performance improvements.

Let’s start with the photo/video-focused updates. Owners of the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max can now capture images in the Apple ProRAW format and edit them in the iPhone’s Photos app. Video can now be recorded at 25 frames per second, and there’s a new option to mirror selfies on older iPhones, including the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X.

The update also offers support for Apple Fitness+, the new, subscription-based health and exercise service that integrates the Workouts app in your Apple Watch with a guided workout session on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. It means that the service is now available in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

If you’re fond of using custom app icons on your handset, they should now launch much more quickly. Previously, the process fired up the Shortcuts app before opening the desired app, which made for a slow and cumbersome process. Now, the app should open immediately.

Monday’s update also includes support for Apple’s recently released AirPods Max wireless headphones, and adds Ecosia, a search engine that donates a chunk of its profits to nonprofit organizations that focus on reforestation.

Curiously, the update also equips Siri with some new skills that mean Apple’s virtual assistant can now quack like a duck or bark like a dog, according to CNBC. Apparently, Siri will now play hundreds of different noises upon request, including the sounds of not just animals (ever wonder what a humpback whale sounds like?) but also musical instruments and vehicles.

You can get iOS 14.3 by heading to your device’s Settings, and tapping on General, Software Update, and then Download. The update may take a little while to complete, so make sure you have some spare time and a full battery when you go to do it. If the update isn’t showing yet, then be patient — it should appear in the coming hours.
