How to change your appearance in Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most anticipated releases of 2020. Before diving into the dystopian world of Night City, you’re greeted with a robust character creator, giving you the ability to craft V into the protagonist of your dreams. You can change their hairstyle, skin tone, eye color, even give them various scars and cybernetic implants. The options are seemingly endless, and it’s arguably one of the best character creators we’ve seen in a game over the past decade.

Just make sure you’re happy with your selections before moving away from this screen — once you exit the character creator, Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t give you the option to change your look. Here’s everything you need to know about changing your appearance in Cyberpunk 2077.

Unfortunately, CD Projekt Red didn’t include a way for you to change V’s appearance beyond the initial character creation screen. That means you’ll need to be very careful with your selections, as you’ll be stuck with them for the entire 50-hour plus journey. Thankfully, you don’t see your character too often — Cyberpunk 2077 is played almost completely in first-person, with V only making an appearance when driving in third-person, looking in a mirror, or switching gear in the main menu.

For now, you’ll have to make do with simply changing V’s outfit. You’ll find tons of clothing as you explore Night City, offering radically different ways to customize your look. Equipping clothing is simple — just navigate to the Inventory screen, find the piece of clothing you want to wear, and press the select button. Early in the game, you won’t have too many options, but keep your eyes peeled as you play for exclusive clothing and gear scattered across Night City.

No future plans for enhanced character customization

Cyberpunk 2077 has several big updates planned for the future, but most of them deal with the slew of bugs currently plaguing the game. From poor performance on PS4 and Xbox One to graphical hiccups on PS5 and Series X, Cyberpunk 2077 on consoles has a long way to go in order to rival its PC counterpart. It’s possible that we’ll see an enhanced character creator screen in the future, but nothing official has been announced by CD Projekt Red.

For a game that revolves around cybernetically enhancing your player, not including a way to change your appearance seems to be a glaring omission. It’s especially odd considering how detailed the initial creation process is, giving you access to customization options not seen in other games. We’d be shocked if a better way to change your appearance didn’t show up in the future, but don’t expect anything to happen within the next few months.

Can you change your appearance in Baldur's Gate 3?

The answer to this is technically yes, but not in the way you would hope. To get it out of the way, no, there's no way to return to the character creation screen after you've finalized your character. Unlike respeccing your character, there's no NPC, item, or magic mirror anywhere in The Forgotten Realms that will let you change your appearance.
