Can you play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy?

There are a few elements from the Harry Potter universe that most people want to see portrayed in a game like Hogwarts Legacy. Of course, we all expect wands, spells, the titular school, and all the magical creatures, but it’s the fictional sport of Quidditch that tops most people’s list of most requested activities. This fantastical sport sees two teams of players mount up on their flying broomsticks above a field in an attempt to knock balls through their opponent’s rings. Of course, there’s also the Golden Snitch that needs to be caught for the game to conclude. This feels like a perfect activity to include in an RPG like Hogwarts Legacy, but can you actually play Quidditch in the game?

Can you play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy?

As sad as it is to say, you cannot play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy. While you do gain access to a flying broom, and can visit the school’s Quidditch field, it can’t be used to play this magical sport. This was confirmed before the game even released, but once it came out, we found out the in-game explanation for why none of the students are mounting up for some matches.

According to the current headmaster of Hogwarts, Phineas Nigellus Black, a student suffered a major injury playing Quidditch in the prior year. Due to the indecent, the staff decided it would be best to cancel the following year’s season and banned all students from participating in games. While this is by no means a satisfying reason why we don’t get to experience Quidditch in the biggest Harry Potter game to date, it is the one we must accept.

We do have a bit of good news though. While you may not be able to play quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy, Portkey Games recently announced an entirely separate multiplayer quidditch game called Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. We don’t know a lot about the game yet, but hopefully it satisfies your quidditch itch.

The answer is a little complicated, but it is a clear no for right now. At launch, you cannot play Suicide Squad without having a connection to the internet, regardless of whether or not you're playing solo. If you lose internet connection while playing, you will be given an error message and booted out of the game.

Circana's Mat Piscatella has released video game market highlights for 2023, and WB Games' Hogwarts Legacy ended up being the bestselling game of 2023, beating out the likes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

"Hogwarts Legacy finished as 2023’s bestselling video game in the U.S. market in dollar sales. It is the first year since 2008 that a non-Call of Duty or Rockstar-developed title ranked 1st (Rock Band)," Piscatella explained on X. "Hogwarts Legacy was the bestselling game of the year on PlayStation platforms, ranked 2nd on Xbox platforms, and placed 5th on Nintendo platforms."

Hogwarts Legacy is the latest and greatest adventure in the magical Harry Potter universe. Set in the 1800s, the story focuses on a generic fifth-year student who’s tasked with taking down a brewing Goblin rebellion in-between their school duties. For Potterheads of all ages, a game that allows them to traverse the halls of Hogwarts, learn their favorite spells from the books and films, and fight enemies like dark wizards, trolls, and dragons is an absolute dream.

The game launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in February. While reviews were mixed across the board, longtime fans jumped into the wizarding world in droves — over 15 million copies of the game have been sold to date. Unfortunately, players on the top-tier consoles were the only ones who had access to the game for a while. Instead of launching on all platforms simultaneously, Hogwarts Legacy's release has been staggered.
