It’s marathon movie month! If you’re looking for a series of films in a franchise to check out for a night binge or a lazy weekend, this is the month to do it. Why? Tubi has not only a wide selection of fantastic movies streaming for free but also plenty of movies and their sequels, in some cases, more than one.
The best movies on Tubi right now date back to the ’80s and include some cult classics, along with a hilarious, side-splitting comedy from the ’90s, several DC Comics movies, a Robin Williams hit, and a multi-Academy Award-winning film from this decade. Considering Tubi switches up its titles often, you’ll want to pencil these ones in for May viewing.

Batman (1989)
Want to make it a movie marathon night? You’ll also find 1992’s Batman Returns streaming on Tubi, in which both Keaton and Nicholson reprise their roles, along with Batman Forever from 1995 which stars the late Val Kilmer in the titular role.
Justice League (2017)
Die-hard fans will want to watch Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the director’s cut of this film since the theatrical release garnered criticism for Joss Whedon’s cuts. But check out Whedon’s Justice League first to make your own comparisons. The film features a massive ensemble cast including Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, and Jason Momoa. It follows the events in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. After Superman’s tragic death, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Aquaman (Momoa) team up to save the world.
As for the movie itself, our reviewer calls Justice League good but not great. He praises the fun moments and exciting sequences, albeit admitting that they are sandwiched between a very long two-hour runtime. But if you’re a DC fan, you’ll have to check it out.
The Fast and the Furious (2001)
The Fast and the Furious is one of those movies you don’t necessarily watch for the plot nor the acting. It’s just two hours of full-throttle adrenaline to fuel your need for action and excitement. And it works because the film has spawned an entire franchise that now includes eight movies, including sequels 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), and Furious 7, all of which are also streaming on Tubi for free. So, go ahead and make this a quiet weekend with popcorn, drinks, and cool cars going super-fast and doing crazy tricks.
If you want to watch all the Fast & Furious movies in order, you’ll need to find the missing ones through other sources. But as mentioned, the plots aren’t exactly essential, so rev your engines, skip ahead, and enjoy.
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994)
“Alrighty then!” If you have already forgotten how wickedly funny it is to watch Jim Carrey stick his face out of a car window like a dog while he drives or talk out of his rear end, it’s time to re-watch Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. The silly flick stars the comedy icon as an animal detective who is hired to find a missing dolphin, the mascot for the Miami Dolphins football team. As he investigates and crosses paths with law enforcement, even Dan Marino, hilarity ensues.
Spawning a sequel, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, which is also available to stream for free on Tubi, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is one of the first films to usher in the ridiculous humor movie genre that has become so popular today. It also solidified Carrey as a comedy movie superstar with the most elastic face, leading to a string of more ’90s movie roles that delighted fans.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
A gripping, hilarious, and downright bizarre film, Everything Everywhere All At Once is aptly titled. The independent absurdist dramedy took Hollywood by storm when it was released in 2022, earning 11 Academy Award nominations and seven wins, including Best Picture. Melding various genres, the movie centers around a Chinese American immigrant being audited by the IRS who ends up in a parallel universe. There, an alternate version of herself, apparently a badass martial artist, must fight against an evil villain looking to destroy the universe.
The incredible cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis, Stephanie Hsu, and Ke Huy Quan in his major comeback since working as a child actor in The Goonies and Indiana Jones. The talented cast is supported by incredible visuals, a mind-bending plot, and peculiar stories. Our reviewer calls Everything Everywhere All At Once the “most wholly original sci-fi film since The Matrix.”
Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)
“Oh, hello!” One of the most heartwarming movies in Robin Williams’ extensive resume, Mrs. Doubtfire remains one that parents continue to watch with their kids generation after generation. On the surface, the film is about desperate dad Daniel (Williams), who disguises himself as and impersonates an old lady to secretly get a housekeeper job just so he can see and spend time with his kids. But beneath the surface, it’s about a man coming into his own and realizing what’s truly important, and a woman recognizing the need to give some grace.
Mrs. Doubtfire has tons of hilarious moments, usually involving Mrs. Doubtfire (a.k.a. Daniel) almost being caught as himself. One of the best Robin Williams movies, the dramedy will remind you why he was one of the best, most versatile actors of the generation.
The Goonies (1985)
It’s the movie you watch again, and again, and again. If you have a teen or tween, you’ll want to watch it with them, too. The Goonies is a cult classic adventure comedy about a group of kids who follow a treasure map in search of long-lost pirate treasure. They’re desperate to save their homes from foreclosure and think that might help. What they encounter, however, is more than they bargained for, including competition from a family of criminals trying to get their hands on the treasure, too.
With a sequel reportedly in the works, now is the perfect time to rewatch The Goonies, one of the best adventure movies of all time.
Weird Science (1985)
John Hughes was known for making some of the best coming-of-age movies of all time. Arguably one of the lesser-known Hughes movies from the ‘80s, Weird Science has since become a cult classic. Gary (Anthony Michael Hall) and Wyatt (Ilan Mitchell-Smith) are high school outcasts. But when these two nerdy kids create a virtual woman on the computer, their handiwork results in a power surge that causes her to come to life.
Lisa (Kelly LeBrock) not only stays by the boys’ sides, she goes out of her way to prevent others from wronging them and helping them live their best lives as teenage boys (all PG-rated, of course). At its heart, Weird Science is about acceptance and confidence. It probably helped an ’80s kid or two come out of their shell, not to mention made LeBrock a pin-up poster in every teenage boy’s room through the decade.
This Is Spinal Tap (1984)
A mockumentary comedy from Rob Reiner, This is Spinal Tap stars Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer as members of a fictional heavy metal band called Spinal Tap. A satire about stereotypical rock band members, attitudes, and goings-on, This is Spinal Tap also pokes fun at rock documentaries themselves.
What makes This is Spinal Tap so brilliant and one of the best mockumentary movies of all time, is that a lot of its dialogue was improvised, a testament to the comedic talent of the three leads, who also co-wrote the movie. A sequel called Spinal Tap II: The End Continues is set to premiere in September 2025, with all three reprising their roles along with Reiner as director.
Now You See Me (2013)
A heist film with a magical twist, Now You See Me is about a group of magicians who combine their mesmerizing performances with real bank heists and robberies, performing their disappearing act at the end so they’re never caught. That might come to an end, however, when an FBI agent and Interpol detective get hot on their tails.
Along with Now You See Me, which stars Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Common, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine, the sequel Now You See Me 2 is also streaming for free. Catch up with the doubleheader in preparation for the third movie in the franchise, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, which is set for release in November 2025.
