Usually, when a company puts together an off-road event to demonstrate the capabilities of its latest vehicles, the cars in question aren’t usually rear-wheel-drive luxury sports coupes. Then again, what fun is having one if you can’t have a little fun?

Aston Martin’s ‘On Ice’ may sound like a glamorous, yet baffling figure skating performance. In reality, however, it’s a three-day driving program the British automaker has put together for one of its signature annual drive events. The program offers drivers a chance to visit Crested Butte, Colorado where they carve a 10-acre ice course with enough bends and hairpin turns in it to make a rally car driver wag his tail in excitement.

Speaking of tail wagging, drivers will partner up with professional instructors who will take them out to the iced-over course for a serious of braking/cornering exercises, work on a skid pad, and slaloms, giving you the knowledge you need to take on full course loops.

Drivers will have Aston’s full lineup available to carve powder, and they’ll be hard pressed to find anything that doesn’t have 12 cylinders in it. They can take the Vanquish, Aston Martin’s 568-horsepower GT out for a spin (or several), the Vantage Coupe, and even the company’s four-door, the Rapide.

The event will also cater to participants off the ice as well with “typically sumptuous Aston Martin luxury living,” meaning for three days, you’ll live the lifestyle befitting those who take $280,000 luxury touring cars on a snowy autocrosses for a lark.

Aston Martin will revive James Bond’s DB5 at a price only Goldfinger can afford

James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 is one of the all-time great movie cars, and it's about to make a comeback. Aston is working with Eon Productions, the company that produces the Bond films, to build 25 new DB5s identical to the car that appeared in 1964's Goldfinger. As with the recent DB4 GT project, Aston prefers the term "continuation cars," not replicas.

Each new DB5 will be an exact copy of the original movie cars (one of which just reportedly resurfaced after years in hiding), right down to gadgets like the trademark revolving license plate. Unlike a genuine 1960s DB5, however, the new cars won't be road legal. Aston can't certify newly built cars designed for '60s safety standards.

But Rivian isn't the only company trying to tackle the problem of the budget electric SUV. The Kia EV9 is finally available, and it too offers a modern design and a range of helpful features.

Given the fact that the Rivian R2 and Kia EV9 are two electric SUVs in a similar price range, you might be wondering which is better for your needs. That's why we put the Rivian R2 and the Kia EV9 head-to-head.
Design
Both the Rivian R2 and the Kia EV9 are actual SUVs -- not crossovers pretending to be SUVs, like plenty of other EVs out there. The two vehicles offer big, boxy designs and plenty of interior space, making them excellent options for families or those who need that extra storage.
