Teach your kids the value of imagination by not buying this $4,000 Star Wars bed

Pottery Barn: The place for all your apothecary tables, antique birdcages, and other days of yore or Colonial times needs, at least according to Friends. But the force is also with the furniture retailer, because it has a whole line of Star Wars-themed stuff to fully outfit your little Ewok’s digs.

From bed sheets to backpacks to sleeping bags (no Tauntaun version, though), there’s Star Wars everything. If your kid has a dark side, he or she can even fully redecorate in Darth Vader flare. Chewbacca fans can curl up in a $199 sleeping bag shaped like the Wookiee. The Chewie backpack even makes the roaring sound when you push a button. There are also dishes, beanbags, and chairs festooned with images and characters from the franchise.

A lot of this doesn’t come particularly cheap. The Empire Strikes Back sheet set costs $69 (compared to a different set of Star Wars sheets from Target for $19). The Death Star beanbag chair is $149. But the item that really takes the Wookiee Cookie is the bed shaped like the Millennium Falcon cockpit. The price? A mere $4,000 (or almost 15 of those Millennium Falcon Lego sets my cousin really wanted a few years ago).

The twin-sized bed is 45.5 inches wide, 108.25 inches long, and 45.5 inches high, so… you might be able to squeeze into it? It does have a control console, but it probably won’t get you to a galaxy far, far away.

Yes, $4,000 is a lot to spend on a bed. But it’s practically a steal when you compare it to some other kids’ beds we’ve seen — like the spaceship one that costs $14,000 and also doesn’t actually get you into space. At least imagination is free, right?
