I didn't realize before receiving it, but the kind of plastic that is used for this product, by IQ Shield, is best described as a thicker, yet easier-to-handle version of Saran wrap you'd use in the kitchen. If course, that type of sticky plastic has no problem adhering to glass and glass-like surfaces. So, as soon as I took my IQ Shield out of its packaging (which is VERY nice, by the way), I had a feeling that it would work well.
Installation was incredibly quick and simple; it took me about 4 minutes in total. The directions were very easy, but to make sure I was absolutely applying it correctly, I watched about 30 seconds of a Youtube video.
The spray that's included in the package, is NOT actually an adhesive of any kind, and this is mentioned on the instruction sheet. Its only purpose is to help you get the Shield perfectly aligned with your phone's screen. Otherwise, if you decide to not use it, which you can totally choose to skip it, you'll pretty much have one chance to apply the Shield correctly, or risk having to peel it off and try again. This plastic does stretch and warp slightly, so multiple installations may make it so that it doesn't quite fit your screen after a while. For that reason, I highly recommend using that spray because the liquid allows you to slide the Shield into place, rather than removing it from your phone completely to adjust it.
The thick rubber squeegee that comes with the IQ Shield, is very impressive and a major upgrade from the usual hard cardboard type that you get with the other type of plastic screen protectors. That's mainly because of the difference between the two plastics. A cardboard squeegee would likely leave scratches on the Shield. The rubber one that it comes with, does not, and does an excellent job at pushing out air bubbles and excess liquid. That said, it's not immediately obvious that you're NOT supposed to lay the Shield's edges down on your phone BEFORE pushing out the air bubbles and liquid with the squeegee. But yes, you absolutely need to do that first, because once the edges are adhered, the bubbles and liquid are then trapped. That is also another reason to use the spray that's included, which I should note, is mostly plain old water, not an adhesive fluid. It's MUCH harder to get out air bubbles without it. I installed my Shield with the spray, then used the squeegee before laying down the edges, and eliminated air bubbles 100%.
The next step, which is also mentioned in your instruction sheet, is to use a hair dryer to evaporate the excess liquid as you're pressing down gently to get the edges to stick to the edges of your phone's screen. This is VERY IMPORTANT.
Now, I know that not everyone has access to a hair dryer, but those of you that do, do not decide to skip using yours when installing the Shield. No, the heat does not activate some sort of adhesive (in fact, the Shield doesn't rely on a chemical adhesive at all). What the heat DOES do is mold the plastic to your phone for a custom fit. In other words, it's very gently melting the plastic and making it softer and more pliable in the process. To avoid damage to your phone and Shield, use your dryer in the lowest heat setting. The liquid evaporates in roughly 1 minute depending on how much you've used. (Two or three sprays is enough; you don't need to saturate the Shield. You only need enough to cover the side that sticks to your screen.) Press down on the edges of the Shield as you're applying heat, for about 3 minutes, or until the Shield sticks to your phone without peeling. That's it. Mine came out perfectly on my first attempt. If you follow these instructions, it's seriously impossible to screw it up. Make sure your screen is free of dirt, fingerprints, dust, oils, or any debris before starting installation, and if your use a case for your phone, don't put it back on for at least one hour after applying your Shield, as it may cause it to peel at the edges. You want to give your Shield time to stick without inference, to minimize the chance of peeling.
I've had my Shield on my S7 Edge for 3 days now WITH a case, and it has not lifted a single time. That thing is really on there! It's crystal clear and does not interfere with the sensitivity of my touch-screen.
I will absolutely purchase this product again.
The negative reviews for this screen protector aren't entirely fair. Unfortunately screen protectors are simply difficult to install unless you have had a lot of practice, and the edge screen makes it even more difficult to apply correctly. If you aren't experienced with installing screen protectors, I wouldn't expect your first attempt to be successful. Even with a lot of practice, you won't have success 100% of the time. Also one star reviews due to screen cracking are kind of ridiculous since these soft screen protectors are intended to prevent minor scratches and scuffs only. Hard, tempered glass screen protectors provide a little bit of protection against cracks, but I felt like it would be very difficult to install one on an edge screen especially if I wanted to put a case on the phone.
Personally I have a slight preference towards dry install screen protectors, because it seems a little easier to get an absolutely perfect install. But a wet install screen protector like IQ Shield is much more forgiving and I can usually get more than satisfactory results (with any flaws being extremely minor and virtually impossible to detect with screen on). With dry install you rarely have more than one shot to get it right, but wet you can move it around a little after applying and have a much better chance of quickly removing and re-applying if needed.
When installing the IQ Shield screen protector for the Galaxy S7, I did in fact have some concerns that the edges weren't completely even on both sides right after applying and it would no longer slide (don't have much time to slide before it sticks too much to move). It is a full coverage screen protector and if you have even the tiniest sliver of it going past the edge of the screen at any point it will peel up quickly at least eventually peel. You must make sure all edges of the screen protector are just within the edge of the screen. I actually did not want the "case friendly" version as I was much more concerned with fingers frequently gliding across the edge of the screen protector pulling it up than I was about putting a case on it. I am definitely happy with my choice as carefully applying the case definitely does not affect the screen protector at all (the case I got is the Spigen Neo Hybrid).
Anyway the reapply resulted in perfect positioning and I was very happy with the end result. This was a screen protector I applied five days ago to my mom's new Galaxy S7 Edge while she was in town visiting. So I can't review long term usage and can't compare to other screen protectors for this phone, but I have used another IQ Shield screen protector for 1 to 2 years with no problems at all. This screen protector seems just as high quality as the other.
Now for some help getting this installed properly...
First, of course watch their installation video and make sure you fully understand the steps before installing. From the point you peel off the screen protector you have very little time to apply if you don't want dust to stick to the screen. At least with wet installs you may have some chance to remove dust if necessary, but attempting to remove any dust will reduce your chances of the screen protector looking great after installation. So be prepared to install immediately after peeling it off.
My success rate installing screen protectors improved considerably after I started applying in a steamy bathroom. I let a hot shower run for a few minutes which helps pull the dust out of the air. This is more important for dry install screen protectors, but I'd definitely still recommend a steamy room for wet installs if possible.
Having a blow dryer or heat gun is very helpful for wet installs, and with a curved Samsung Edge screen I'd say it is almost essential. Even with some heat applied, I always at least leave the phone sitting off and untouched overnight, if not 24 hours as is recommended in the instructions for any wet install screen protector.
For this S7 Edge install, I removed the phone from the steam filled bathroom after applying the screen protector to everything but the edges and using the included squeegee to push out any bubbles . You won't be able to get the edges to stick until they dry a little bit, so the steam unfortunately will make that process longer. As I mentioned before, make sure you carefully inspect the edges of the screen protector to be completely within the screen's edges before proceeding though. If not very quickly pull off, re-spray, and reapply.
I really did not want to risk dust getting inside the edges of the screen protector if I waited several minutes as the instructions say. So I used the heat gun to apply just enough heat to dry the edges enough to stick (maybe 5 or 6 seconds with the heat gun on low at a time about one foot from the phone) and then held a portion of the edge down with my fingers for like 10 seconds. I had to do it in sections as one entire side wasn't going to stick at once. So start on one end of the middle and then repeat (apply heat and then pressure) until the sides are sticking. You will likely have to spend extra effort on the corners and some tiny spots on the edge where it didn't fully stick. That extra effort to make sure it is permanently attached everywhere will help keep it from peeling in the future. In addition to the edges, you might as well apply a little bit of heat to the rest of the screen protector as well. But there is definitely such thing as too much heat so don't overdo it. Good to just help out the process a little before letting it sit for many hours.
If you have no or nearly no experience installing screen protectors, don't get discouraged by your first attempt going poorly. You might even order two if you are worried and wouldn't want to wait for another to arrive if the first attempt goes poorly. Screen protectors like this one are very cheap relative to the value of your phone.

Also - I have a Galaxy S10+ and the screen is curved and most protectors don't follow the curve.
This product is different! After watching the video and reading the brochure, the manufacturer tells you "not to worry" if you see small bubbles or rainbow colours after instralling. They say that the bubbles will go away within a day or so.
Well, I thought I had put mine on perfectly but after a few minutes, I noticed 3 small air bubbles underneath!
So I trusted them and let it dry, and sure enough, after leaving it on my charger overnight, ALL the bubbles were gone. It looks perfect and the surface is very smooth and the touch screen works too.
They give you 2 of the protectors in the box, and they have a lifetime warranty.
So I am very happy with this. I finally found a screen protector that works and will also mould to the curved screen of my phone.
I need to explain first I am Mrs-Pinnickity-of-Pinnickityville - all my kit has to be absolutely perfect. I've handed in for recycling phones, Macs, etc, that engineers have joked have never been used. I'm *so* picky I even get my tempered mobile screens put on in the shop by the 'Pros' as I cannot stand for there to be a single thing wrong with them. So, the thought of fitting this myself filled me with dread.
I read the documents and followed everything they said (including spraying my own fingers). I placed the shield on my watch and the first thing I thought was it's miles too big - all those edges are not going to fold down around the edge of the screen without all kinds of horrors. It all felt like a disaster reminiscent of me, Blue Peter, and sticky-back plastic! I left the shield flat on the watch screen and jumped onto YouTube. Following the 'palming' technique gradually all the edges folded down and - low/behold - it became completely invisible on the watch screen, as per my image. Absolutely stunned!
It's not dried overnight yet as IQ Shield recommended, but providing none of the corners lift during the drying I will be very happy indeed. My strongest recommendation is to watch the YouTube video first, read and follow all the instructions provided with the pack, be patient to let it dry for the recommended time and you should be good to go. And you too should be a very happy Mr/Mrs Pinnickity!
