I was never big on simulators but I ended up taking a chance on this game and found it to be quite charming and fun. I wish more Indie games would do physical copies I miss out on so many because they only want to do digital downloads. Having digital downloads is not secure especially since consoles like banning accounts which happens way too much and way too easily. The DLC goods are also available on the disc which is a plus.I played the game on my Gen1 PS4 and I think it was Firmware 4.55 with the game being very stable, it only crashed once though.I played the game for many hours and it seems endless since you get a visit to see what you accomplish. There's more to just farming there's combat, fishing,marriage,town events and mini games too. I want to add that the amount of content is good. I can't think of any good con's to the game except it can be repetitive but thats kind of the nature with the game.

In my opinion though this game is superior to those games as it expands on the genre and offers elements of exploration and fighting. The game also features many secrets to find and players can spend many hours with this game without accomplishing everything. The writing is strong as well. A great game for anyone.

I absolutely adore this game. I have been a gamer since I was a young lass. One of the numerous games I grew up with was the Harvest Moon series. Stardew Valley is much similar to Harvest Moon as well as Rune Factory (obviously), however, I love that the characters really have depth to them. They are more relateable (IMO). The scenery is very retro. It reminds me of Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town.
The similarities are: The festivals (I have only done the Egg one and next is the Flower Dance, but it was adorable. Pretty much everyone gathers in the center of town to participate in said festival).
The typical farm life (raising animals, planting and harvesting crops, mining, fishing, etc.).
Numerous townsfolk (many of which are marriage options and the townspeople are distinctive in their own way and all together, they blend into a harmonious town. One character I really enjoy is Linus. I won't spoil too much, but he's not a character you see in other farming games (I haven't at least. I am sure there are some, but it's not typical). It's nice for a breath of fresh air with new characters.
A difference from HM, but similar to RF is the combat. It's very simple, but it's enjoyable (as it should be).
All in all, I would highly recommend this game. I am older and Harvest Moon seems too kiddish for my tastes nowadays, but I liked playing the series. Stardew Valley kept popping up everywhere I went be it on YouTube, Amazon recommendations, and even my eldest brother raved about this game. I am almost done with Spring and am looking forward for the countless seasons to come. =)

If you need a calm and relaxing game to play in between more hectic games this is it. If you grew up playing Harvest Moon on the game boy and confusingly spent hours on it, this game is for you, and even more. It far surpasses Harvest Moon, and Animal Crossing in terms of game depth/things to do, and has so many unique features, and quirks.

There are some weird parts of the gameplay; it drives me crazy when I harvest something and I accidentally eat it because I didn’t realize my inventory got full. (Harvest first thing so you can easily restart.) It sucks when you accidentally drop something in your bin, you can only take out the last dropped object. If you have 30 jars of starfruit jam you cannot seperate them once added to your inventory, so you would have to choose to sell all 30, instead of breaking them up. If you have an open spot in your inventory you cannot select it if you don’t want to walk around and worry like I do about accidentally using something you did not intend to.

These are very small gameplay quirks. I still throughly enjoy the game and look forward to playing it day by day. If you need a calm game this is it.

Stardew Valley is an excellent game. The game is about a customizable character that quits their job at a corporation and moves to a farm they inherited from their grandfather. The game provides endless hours of fun for any player to enjoy. It's suitable for anyone 10 and older.
You get to build your own farm from the ground up and upgrade your farmhouse as you go along. Play your way by investing in farming, fishing, foraging, mining and combat skills. You can even craft dozens of items, cook a multitude of recipes, create artisan goods and raise animals. There's even a wonderful plot and backstory plus socialization, exploration and even romance and marriage to experience.
As an additional bonus, this edition contains a map of Pelican Town and the surrounding areas, a guidebook and a soundtrack. Plus the developer Concerned Ape regularly updates the game, and there's a large community of loyal fans who create mods, fan art and more for you to enjoy.
If you need any additional information about the game try YouTube or the official wiki page. You won't regret trying Stardew Valley. I know I didn't. :)

Oh my gosh, what can I say about this game!? If you love Harvest Moon you will absolutely love this game!! As a diehard HM fan from the beginning, I was skeptical of all the "you'll love this game" reviews, because I just didn't really think I'd find something else that I loved as much. Boy was I wrong! This game is so incredibly addicting. Be prepared to fall into the "just one more in-game day" trap and end up still playing a season later! Between farming, foraging, mining, fishing, raising animals, completing quests, and making friends, there is SO much to do that you will never feel like you're just repeating the same exact tasks over and over again (unless you choose to do that). The goals and quests to advance and improve your game are satisfyingly difficult without being daunting or out-of-reach. I accomplished so much in my first year in-game and am so excited to see what's to come in year 2!!

P.S. If you HATE fishing like I did in the beginning, don't worry! It really does get better!! Start out fishing in the lake by the mine, the fish there are easier to catch. Then once you've leveled up a bit in fishing you can continue fishing everywhere else. I completely avoided fishing for the first 2 seasons because I despised it so much. Once I actually started catching fish and my level improved it became more fun. Now fishing is actually one of my favorite activities!
