Amazon Kindle Fire unveiling and hands-on photos

We managed to attend Amazon’s press conference live today in New York. At the event, CEO Jeff Bezos unveiled the company’s new 7-inch Android tablet, the Kindle Fire. We weren’t allowed to hold the tablet ourselves, but we were able to snap some photos up close and get live demonstrations of the unit. We’ll have full impressions and some video up in the coming hours, but for now check out a few close up photos of working units and we’ve included a good portion of the presentation that Bezos made to unveil the tablet. He went over every major Amazon service and pointed out how they were all going to be integrated into the Kindle Fire. Check it out! Samsung just launched a $400 phone in the U.S., and it looks great

A little over a month ago, Samsung announced two new entries in its Galaxy A family — the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35. Both phones made their way to the U.K. and Europe, but we've been left waiting for a U.S. release. Thankfully, that waiting has now come to an end.

As of April 18, the Galaxy A35 is now available for purchase in the U.S. from Samsung.com, Samsung's retail stores, and at "major carriers and retailers." Regardless of where you buy the phone, it's available in your choice of two colors: Awesome Navy and Awesome Lilac. The starting price is a penny shy of $400, putting it well below the Galaxy S24 that launched earlier this year. Interestingly, the Galaxy A55 is not coming to the U.S. at this time.

I wish I could buy Huawei’s new Pura 70 phones

Huawei has pretty much been removed from the U.S. smartphone market after being sanctioned by the former Trump administration nearly five years ago. But in its home country of China, it has frequent run-ins with Apple for the top spot. Besides a sense of nationalism, Huawei's success is backed by phones that offer top-notch design, exceptional cameras, and extremely unique features. We see these traits once again on the latest Huawei Pura 70 series that launched in China today as a successor to the photography-centric P60 lineup from last year.

Huawei's Pura 70 series has four phones: the regular Pura 70, the Pura 70 Pro, the Pura 70 Pro+, and the Pura 70 Ultra. Being a camera-centric series, the phones feature a distinct triangular camera arrangement, while the Ultra -- the top-of-the-line model -- also comes with a retractable lens similar to digital cameras for finer focus.
