Galaxy S II phones officially announced on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint

American versions of Galaxy S II S2Are you tired of hearing rumors about Samsung’s Galaxy S II phones? We are too, which is why we are happy to say that it has been officially announced for Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile. This all but confirms that Verizon will not be getting a Galaxy S II device, or at least one named as such. Unlike the Galaxy S launch each carrier isn’t getting their own customized device and name. Sprint will keep the Epic name tag it originally placed on the first-generation Galaxy S phone, but will add Touch to the name due to it not having a physical keyboard. Both AT&T and T-Mobile devices will simply be called Galaxy S II.

Unlike the original Galaxy S launch the three devices don’t share the same screen size. The AT&T model will sport a 4.3-inch screen which is a boost from last year’s 4inch screen. The Sprint and T-Mobile phones will both have slightly larger screens at 4.52-inches. We are assuming that AT&T choose to keep the size of the European Galaxy S II since they already have a 4.5inch Samsung phone, and it might be a little confusing for customers.

Internally all the phones will be the same except for the 4G antenna installed in each device. Sprint’s phone will of course come with WiMax installed, whereas T-Mobile and AT&T will have HSPA+ under the covers. All three phones will come with 1.2gigahertz dual core processors made by Samsung, and 16gigabytes of storage installed with an SD card slot if you need more room.

The Epic 4G Touch will be the first phone available when it comes out on September 16, but AT&T won’t be far behind with its release on September 18. There was no official word as to when exactly T-Mobile’s version will hit store shelves.

While we are excited to see these amazing phones finally become available we can’t help but wonder what took so long? There are no huge physical changes inside or out between these phones and the phone that was first released in Europe on May 1, four months before the America.
