HTC and AT&Ts new phone the HTC Vivid makes porn company livid

HTC VividHTC seems to be having the hardest time finding names for all of its phones. The phone company is in hot water because of the name of the recently launched HTC Vivid, which also happens to be the name of Vivid Entertainment, an adult entertainment company.

On the surface the dispute seems fairly trivial seeing as Vivid Entertainment feels that the name of the HTC device could cause confusion for its customers. It does not want people to think that phone Vivid Entertainment had anything to do with the production of the phone.

Even though Vivid Entertainment had nothing to do with the HTC Vivid it did recently make news on the tech front. Earlier this month Vivid Entertainment officially launched the first porn channel on Google TV. Seeing as Vivid and Google are now in cahoots it is possible that some users could be confused as to which Google product offers Vivid Entertainment material.

This isn’t the first time that HTC has come under fire for a product’s name. Earlier this year HTC announced the HTC ChaCha, which happens to be the name of a search company. HTC later renamed the device the Status, due to the fact that it had a dedicated Facebook button.

When asked for an official response to the cease and desist letter HTC only replied with, “We are reviewing the complaint and don’t expect to have any further comment until it is resolved.” Ironically enough the HTC Vivid will most likely be a great phone for streaming videos thanks to its large 4.5inch screen and blazing fast 4G LTE connection.

Apple is about to do the unthinkable to its iPads
A person holding the iPad Air 4.

Earlier today, Apple announced that new iPads are coming this May. In my eyes, this seems to be “The Chosen One” generation. We’re likely getting an OLED display, a better keyboard (hopefully), and a chip ready to chomp the AI dinner. This gadget shall finally fill the techno-digital void in my life. At last.

Or maybe I am just trying to blindly convince myself to splurge over a thousand dollars for a machine that is “still not a Mac” and “can never be a fully fleshed out workstation.” But hey, people are spending $3,500 on a headset that gives them a headache and $700 for an AI thingamajig that can’t quite figure out what it really wants to do.

Rear shell of HMD Vibe smartphone.

Finnish company Human Mobile Devices is renewing its journey under the HMD branding, shedding aside the Nokia naming it used to use for all of its smartphones. The first handsets to bear the HMD branding are the HMD Pulse, HMD Pulse+, HMD Pulse Pro, and the HMD Vibe. All phones share similar aesthetics, with a few splashy colors thrown in for certain trims, and target the budget segment.

The HMD Vibe, for example, serves a 6.56-inch display with an HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 silicon runs the show, alongside 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage. Notably, there’s a microSD card slot that supports storage expansion up to 512GB.
