HTC Rhyme unveiled: a classy Verizon phone for the ladies

Today, HTC unveiled the HTC Rhyme, an Android phone with an eye for the ladies. Going against the grain of the typical black/gray/white Android handset, this one is a rich plum color and modest specs. With a single-core 1GHz processor, 5MP camera, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), a light up “charm” that glows when you miss a call, and matching Bluetooth headset & headphones, we imagine this one will be priced quite affordably. Most interesting is that the new phone will be the first to come with HTC Sense 3.5, which, as you can see above, appears to be a bit more sleek than previous versions.

Oddly, there is no Beats Audio support. While we know this is a branding issue, it would be nice if the technology was built into most HTC handsets. But either way, this phone is about in line with the HTC Incredible 2. We wish it had a bit more power under the hood, but for those who just want a smartphone that will get them from here to there, this may do the trick, and that light up charm may make it possible to know if you get a call even when your phone is in your purse. We’ll have to see.
