Apple stock holders should be happy campers right now. Just released numbers regarding third quarter earnings reveal the scrappy Silicon Valley company to have what Steve Jobs says is one of their best quarters ever.
Specifically, according to a company press release, the company posted a quarterly net profit of $320 million and revenue of $3.52 billion. This compares to a profit of $61 million and revenue of $2.01 billion this same time last year. The jump represents revenue growth of 75 percent and net profit growth of 425 percent.
The company also said they had shipped approximately 1.18 million Macs and more than 6.1 million iPods during the quarter. These numbers, compared to this same time last year, represent a 35 percent growth for the former and a staggering 616 percent growth for the latter.
“We are delighted to report Apple’s best quarter ever in both revenue and earnings,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “The launch of Mac OS X Tiger has been a tremendous success, and we have more amazing new products in the pipeline.”
