‘Jobs’ movie promo becomes first trailer to hit Instagram

The producers behind the movie formerly known as jOBS (yes, they had a meeting about the much-ridiculed little ‘j’ and went for a big ‘j’ instead, dumping its awkward attempt at referencing the tech company’s iconic naming scheme) have released what’s thought to be the first movie trailer on the Instagram platform.

Of course, with the media-sharing service introducing a video option in June, it was only a matter of time before a movie maker cut together a 15-second piece promoting their flick.

Whereas the recent Wolverine trailer on Vine was borderline bonkers in its quick-fire cutting, Jobs on Instagram runs more like a traditional trailer, and no doubt will be the first of many such movie promos appearing on the service.

Jobs, which arrives in theaters on August 16, is directed by Joshua Michael Stern and written by Matt Whitely, and covers the life of the late Apple co-founder from 1971 when he first met Steve Wozniak to the mid-90s by which time the company had become one of the most recognized brands in the world.

The movie features Ashton Kutcher in the lead role, Josh Gad as co-founder Steve Wozniak, Matthew Modine as former CEO John Sculley, and Dermot Mulroney as early Apple investor and former CEO Mike Markkula.

Netflix debuts first trailer for Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon

In the early 1980s, one of the first responses to Star Wars was a legion of low-budget imitators, including the Roger Corman-produced film Battle Beyond the Stars. Director Zack Snyder has made no secret of the fact that Rebel Moon was originally his pitch for a Star Wars movie before Disney purchased Lucasfilm. And the early story elements from this film also seemed to lift some of the plot from Battle Beyond the Stars. But now that the first teaser trailer for the flick has arrived, it's showing even more Star Wars influence than we expected, including a look at glowing blue and red swords that shamelessly resemble lightsabers.

Timothée Chalamet becomes a candy legend in Wonka’s first trailer

It's going to be a busy fall for Timothée Chalamet. In November, Chalamet is headlining the highly-anticipated sci-fi sequel, Dune: Part Two from Warner Bros. and Legendary. And just over a month later, Warner Bros. will release Wonka, Chalamet's second film of the holiday season. Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp previously portrayed the iconic candy maker in 1971 and 2005 within Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, respectively. But this new film isn't a remake, it's essentially Wonka Begins, the previously untold origin of Roald Dahl's unforgettable character.

Leonardo DiCaprio faces dark times in new Killers of the Flower Moon trailer

Apple Studios hasn't been shy about loading up Apple TV+ with a large number of original films in order to fill out its cinematic library. So when an Apple movie is heading toward theaters with a wide release, it's a big deal. And it doesn't get much bigger than director Martin Scorsese dropping a new crime epic, Killers of the Flower Moon, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro in the leading roles. According to the new trailer's tagline, it's "based on a true American story," and it is. But it's not a happy story that makes the country look good. Instead, this is a dark tale of murder and greed.
