A short note, but even Prime members may be happy about this news. Beginning tomorrow, Amazon is giving free one-day shipping on “thousands of top-selling items.” The discount begins Dec. 17 at 12:00am (Pacific time) and ends on Dec. 21, 2011 at 11:59pm (Pacific time). To get the discount, simply select one-day shipping (it will still have a price) at checkout. The discount will be applied in your order summary. This Amazon page has more details, but it doesn’t appear that you have to be an Amazon Prime member to take part in the discount.

The process seems a bit confusing but time is running out for Christmas shopping and Amazon is one of the best places to do it. If you’re unsure what to get someone, we might point your attention to our wonderful Holiday Gift Guide, which has a ton of good tech gift ideas in almost every category. And if you’d like to buy us a gift, the entire editorial staff’s wishlist will go live on Dec. 20th. That still gives you a day to buy us (me) something nice.

(Hint: I’d really like an HP Folio 13 Ultrabook. Well, any Ultrabook would do, honestly.)

What are you guys clamoring for this Christmas?
