Is your commute a total time suck? Turns out you’re not alone. Around half of Americans now spend two hours each day in their cars, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Ford wants to help you better utilize this time with a new media app.

Eager to continually add new, dynamic apps and features to its SYNC infotainment system, Ford has partnered with Kaliki, an audio newsstand. The new Ford SYNC Kaliki app utilizes radio talent to read local newspapers and national magazines — and much more — to users through their Ford vehicle.

To access, customers with SYNC-enabled Ford vehicles can download the Kaliki app free of charge from their respective app store. When the driver connects his or her smartphone via Bluetooth to the vehicle, the app is activated by hitting the voice button on the steering wheel and requesting the Kaliki app. Once launched, users can scroll through stories with the normal steering wheel audio controls including play/pause and skip forward or backward.

Ford says the Kaliki app is just like listening to the radio but with the addition of distinctive content from Kaliki media partners including Shape MagazineTV Guide, Men’s Fitness;,OK!, and Agence France-Presse.

With this newest infotainment partnership, Ford proves it’s at the forefront of in-vehicle entertainment. It’s a clever solution, and one that will likely prove popular for those wanting their news fix on the go.

White Ford E-Transit electric van

Consumer electric cars are all the rage right now, with great new models releasing on a regular basis. But perhaps just as interesting as what's happening in the consumer space is what's happening in the commercial EV space. We've seen splashy headlines related to Rivian's deal with Amazon, for example, but the commercial space can be a little more rigid, especially when it comes to businesses who have done things one way for years, and aren't quite ready to make a big shift. That's where the Ford E-Transit comes in.

I have to admit, driving the E-Transit for a week was a bit of a shift for me. I'm used to driving new EVs, but few of them are as large or as utilitarian as the E-Transit. That, however, just might be the point.
A frictionless switch
The concept behind the E-Transit is simple -- make switching to an electric vehicle as seamless and as simple as possible.
