You just can’t stop the Internet sometimes. It’s like a curious puppy digging up dirt and getting into things it shouldn’t. As it turns out, that’s more than alright by us because it means our impatient side is happily satiated at just the right moment; when we can no longer bear the endless teasing and waiting automakers put us through every year.

Case in point: The upcoming 2014 Mazda6. Teaser images recently leaked on the internet (as they tend to do) giving gawkers a clearer picture of what the new mid-size sedan will undoubtedly look like. Unsurprisingly, Mazda, in kind, then upped the ante by releasing three official pics of the new 6 itself, bringing our visual buffet to four total.

So far, Mazda has been careful not to release pictures of the cars profile, but from the ones released it looks like the 2014 Mazda6 will exhibit a commanding presence with its handsome styling and aggressive stance.

This is perhaps easier to see when scoping out the 6’s front fascia, which draws easy comparisons to the CX-5. Like the latest crossover, the 2014 Mazda6 features a prominent grille, curvy, yet stepped hood, and windswept headlights, which Mazda says derive from the company’s latest ‘Kodo, Soul of Motion’ design language.

As of right now, we’re a little in the dark over particular powertrains for each region. Mazda says it plans to debut its new sedan at the 2012 Moscow Auto Show at the end of August. That particular show car will feature the company’s new SkyActiv-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, Mazda states that the new 6 will utilize the company’s new i-ELOOP (Intelligent Energy Loop) capacitor-based regenerative breaking system, which, according to the Japanese automaker, should “improve [fuel] economy by up to 10 percent.”

Of course those of us outside mother Russia will have to wait until late September for the Paris show in order to get an idea of what Mazda has planned for other markets. Still, at the very least, these new images have given us a visually clearer idea of what to expect, and needless to say we like what we see.
