Why Tesla’s promise to deliver 500,000 electric cars in 2020 isn’t unrealistic

Tesla wants to deliver 500,000 electric cars in 2020, a major increase over the 367,500 cars it delivered in 2019. But unlike some of the company's other promises, this goal seems fairly realistic. Tesla has a lot of potential production capacity to work with, and the new Model Y crossover waiting in the wings.

Tesla strongly rejects claims of acceleration issue with its cars

Tesla has described a recent petition alleging unexpected accelerations among its cars as "completely false." It said that it has already discussed most of the complaints in the petition with the NHTSA, adding that in every case where it had the vehicle's data, it was able to confirm that the car operated as designed.

NHTSA looking into whether 500,000 Teslas have unintended acceleration problem

The reports of sudden unintended acceleration are varied, and they don't follow a set pattern. Some motorists claim their car accelerated while parking, while others claim they couldn't slow it down on the highway. The NHTSA is looking into the reports, but it hasn't opened a formal investigation yet.
