How to choose an Alienware gaming PC on Cyber Monday

Last year, Alienware offered several options when it came to gaming PCs in the form of the Aurora R13, R15, and the newer R16. This year, only the R16 is on offer, so if you’re looking to buy a new gaming PC, then one of the many Aurora R16 configurations is the way to go. Luckily, you have a lot of options, but for the most part, you’re going to be picking the sort of GPU you want, and a lot of that will also depend on what resolution and refresh rate you want to game on.

For 1080p gaming, the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 series are great options, and the latter is good for higher refresh rates or even potentially 2K resolutions. The RTX 4080 lineup is also a solid 2K GPU, especially for higher resolutions, although it can be pushed to 4K if needed. As for the RTX 4090, that’s purely a 4K card, and using it for anything less would be a shame unless you’re trying to push insane refresh rates like 300-500Hz. So, ultimately, a lot of your picks depend on the monitor resolution and refresh rate and what sort of budget you’re going for.

How we chose these Alienware gaming PC Cyber Monday deals

Since there are so many configurations to pick from, we did our best to give you an entry-level option, a mid-range option, and the best option when it comes to the Aurora R16 so that you can really pick the specs that work for you. The same goes for the Alienware monitors, where we picked a couple of options in various resolutions so that you can pick what you want to prioritize.

Beyond that, we also did our best to find the best deals possible using our experience as reviewers and deal hunters so that when you snag any deal, you know that you’re getting the best price and buying with confidence.

I let Radial menu take over my Mac, and I’m never going back
One mouse jiggle, endless shortcuts. My Mac has never felt this fast.
Radial app running on Mac

I have been testing Radial for the past week, and it's quickly become one of those apps I didn’t know how I could live without. It's a radial menu for macOS that puts your shortcuts, scripts, and automations right where your cursor is, so you never have to go hunting through menus to find what you need.

The app just received its 5.0 update, adding AI actions powered by Claude, window layouts, variables, a redesigned settings interface, a new Atmosphere background effect, and a squircle menu shape. I got to try most of these, and here's what I found.

Android desktop mode made me miss my laptop in record time
I tried writing and publishing from Google’s phone-to-monitor setup, and the future of mobile computing immediately started sweating.
Computer, Electronics, Laptop

Android 17 desktop mode has a very simple pitch. Plug your phone into a monitor, add a keyboard and mouse, and watch the slab in your pocket pretend to be a computer. I wanted to give that pitch a fair shot, so I tried using it for an actual workday instead of a cute demo.

The goal was boring on purpose: write an article, edit it, build the page in WordPress, upload whatever needed uploading, and publish the thing without running back to my laptop like a coward.

As AI turbocharges digital abuse, UK agencies urge parents to limit who sees kids’ photos online
The National Crime Agency and Internet Watch Foundation are asking parents to tighten privacy settings as AI-generated abuse material rises.
Social Media

Parents who post pictures of their kids online are being told to rethink the habit. The UK's National Crime Agency and the Internet Watch Foundation have issued new guidance urging families to lock down their social media accounts, warning that publicly shared photos are increasingly being pulled and altered by AI tools to create child sexual abuse material.

The two organizations say most parents have no idea this is happening. Criminals no longer need to contact a child directly to generate such material. They can scrape an ordinary photo and run it through widely available nudify apps.
