OpenAI introduced apps in ChatGPT last year, giving users a way to interact with services like Booking.com, Canva, Spotify, and more without leaving the chat interface. Since then, more developers have joined in, with apps from Peloton and Tripadvisor already available, while OpenAI has also opened a publishing pipeline to bring even more third-party apps into ChatGPT. Now, AccuWeather is joining that growing lineup, bringing real-time weather updates and forecasts to ChatGPT conversations.

What can AccuWeather’s ChatGPT app do?

The new AccuWeather app brings detailed, real-time weather data into ChatGPT. Instead of relying on general responses, users can now ask for current conditions, hourly updates, or multi-day forecasts and get precise answers for specific locations.

The app also supports more advanced features like MinuteCast for minute-by-minute precipitation forecasts, RealFeel, and RealFeel Shade, along with severe weather alerts and air quality information. It even includes a live radar to help users monitor current and upcoming conditions. Users can ask follow-up questions or refine their queries for more insights.

How does this improve weather forecasts in ChatGPT?

By tapping into AccuWeather’s live data and forecasting systems, ChatGPT can now provide more reliable and timely weather updates instead of generalized estimates. This makes the chatbot far more useful for real-world scenarios, whether it’s planning a commute or a trip. It also reduces the need to jump between apps.

Once set up, users can submit weather-related queries by typing “@AccuWeather,” selecting the app from the pop-up, and entering their prompt.
