The 700M is all about customization. With eight fully programmable buttons, you’ll have everything you need right at your fingertips, which will be kept from slipping by the hexagonal tread pattern on the sides. The whole mouse is built around a lightweight aluminum chassis, which allows it to weigh just 110 grams at its lowest setting. However, that weight can be customized to your liking as well. The palm rest at the back has an adjustable height and two different shapes to suit every grip.
Under the hood, the 700M is powered by a 32-bit ARM processor and 512KB of on-board memory. That means all of your settings are saved to the mouse, and it’s totally plug-and-play compatible. The 8200 DPI laser sensor is a very competitive option as well, and the Cougar software suite allows acute customization of its properties.
There are a few other bells and whistles as well. A muzzle at the front of the mouse where the cable attaches keeps it from snagging on anything, as well as protecting the connection point. Perhaps best of all, the Cougar 700M costs just $59.99, the same price as the current flagship 600M, which is a bit more typical of a gaming mouse. That means you can decide whether you want a traditional experience, or something that allows a bit more tinkering. Either way, you’ll have a well-equipped mouse at a great price.
