HP debuts new nx9010 notebook computer

The new notebook PC offers the latest in wireless connectivity through optional integrated 54g wireless LAN (local area network) technology. It is designed to work with new wireless networks based on the draft 802.11g specification as well as existing 802.11b wireless networks.

By choosing to integrate 54g integrated wireless into the nx9010 notebook, users can benefit from higher data transfer speeds with broader coverage than current wireless specifications provide. Integrated 54g wireless makes the notebook ideal for business environments with only one access point, enabling mobile customers to significantly enhance their productivity from the office or while on the go.

The 54g wireless technology is also more secure since it was designed to support the Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) standard, which provides significant improvements in data protection on wireless networks. The nx9010 notebook is planned to support the WPA standard through a software update soon.

Designed with practicality in mind, the new nx9010 is reliable, easy to use and features the all-in-one functionality of having a hard drive, optical drive and floppy drive all included. The notebook also features the latest technologies, including Intel® processors, large 15-inch displays and ATI Mobility Radeon graphics that allow users to work more efficiently to meet business needs.

The HP Compaq nx9010 is part of a large portfolio of quality products to meet the needs of today’s small and medium business user. (See today’s press release titled “HP Targets Small- and Medium-sized Businesses with New Technology Offerings.”)
