Iomega Announces USB REV Autoloader

Iomega yesterday announced a new USB 2.0 desktop autoloader for use with its REV removable hard disks. The new REV Loader 280 is slated to be available in early April for around $1,000.

The REV Loader 280, said Iomega, is targeted towards those who have small business backup and archive needs. It manages eight separately purchased 35GB REV disks, which provide access to a total of 280GB (560GB compressed) of storage. Features include a compact desktop size of less than seven inches tall and five inches wide, USB 2.0 support, a license for CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Windows and up to 25MB/sec data transfer rates.

“Today’s small businesses cannot take chances with their critical data,” said Tom Kampfer, President and Chief Operating Officer, Iomega Corporation, in a statement. “The new Iomega REV Loader 280 delivers the speed and convenience of a hard drive with the advanced backup protection of removable media in an automated, ‘no-touch’ data protection solution. The new Iomega REV Loader 280 is a backup kit in a box that includes everything a small business needs, and continues to fulfill our REV vision of ‘capacity without limits and backup without worries.’
