Turns out loyalty to Edge actually pays.

What’s happened? At some point, we’ve all opened Microsoft Edge just to download Chrome, but Microsoft seems determined to break this habit. As spotted by Windows Latest, when Windows 11 users search for “Chrome” on Microsoft Edge using Bing, they’re now greeted with a scheme offering 1,300 Microsoft Rewards points to keep using Edge instead of downloading Google Chrome.

  • The reward offer sits at the top of Bing’s search results, tagged “Promoted by Microsoft,” pushing Chrome’s download link down the page.
  • Depending on your location, the 1300 reward points can be redeemed for Amazon gift cards, Roblox items, or Spotify Premium access for up to three months.
  • You can also donate the points to support an NGO if you’d rather put them to good use.

This is important because: It marks Microsoft’s shift from passive promotion to a reward-driven strategy, showing how far the company is willing to go to win back users.

  • Edge currently holds less than 9% global browser market share, while Chrome dominates at around 78%.
  • No similar promos for browsers like Opera, Firefox, or Brave were spotted, suggesting Microsoft’s campaign is squarely aimed at Google Chrome.
  • Microsoft has been steadily turning Edge into a productivity hub by introducing AI features like sharing Copilot chats and letting users pick up where they left off.
  • Microsoft’s AI and performance upgrades have recently made Edge a genuine contender, arguably even better than Safari.

Why should I care? If you don’t care deeply about browser choice, you might view the incentive as a bonus.

  • Although 1,300 points amount to around $10 – $15, it shows that Microsoft is willing to pay for your loyalty.
  • It offers a firsthand look at how the search engine and OS are actively steering user decisions.

OK, what’s next?

  • If you use Windows 11, try searching “Chrome” in Bing to see if the ad appears and decide whether the reward is compelling enough for you to stay or switch.
  • Those who want to redeem the offer should check exactly what gift cards or services can be availed in exchange.

Windows 11 is getting a new Screen Tint mode, and your eyes might thank Microsoft
Users can apply custom color overlays to reduce screen intensity and visual fatigue.
Windows 11 on a laptop

Microsoft is testing a new accessibility feature for Windows 11 called Screen Tint, and it could be one of those small additions that make a surprisingly big difference. Instead of changing your display's color temperature like Night Light, Screen Tint applies a customizable color overlay across the entire screen, making bright displays easier on the eyes during long work or gaming sessions.

Apple blamed memory costs for your price hike. Its proposed solution involves a Pentagon blacklist.
Apple Mac Mini on a Desk

A few days ago, Apple announced an ugly mid-cycle price hike, blaming the worsening-by-the-day memory crisis. According to the Financial Times, the company is now lobbying the government for approval to buy memory chips from a Chinese company.

The company in question is CXMT, a Chinese chipmaker that the Pentagon added to its Chinese Military Company blacklist for alleged ties to the Chinese army.

As iPads get pricier, Motorola’s Pad 70 Pro arrives as a solid option… just not for US buyers yet
Great specs, a stylus in the box, and no US launch date: the Moto Pad 70 Pro sounds both impressive and disappointing.
Computer, Electronics, Laptop

If you don’t know about Apple’s recent price hike, which affected all the products in its lineup except the iPhone and Apple Watch (for now), you’ve got to be living under some sort of a rock. The revision made all the iPads much more expensive.

Motorola, however, has just launched a 13-inch tablet that actually sounds good on paper. It’s called the Moto Pad 70 Pro, and it costs around $440 for the baseline model. The catch, however, is that the device isn’t available in the US yet.
