Sony has announced a breakthrough in digital displays. The new OLED can wrap around a finger, while still displaying a fully functional display.

According to Trend Hunter, the display will be a 4.1-inch OLED display that integrates organic thin film transistors. It can be wrapped around something as small as 4mm in diameter.

There was no specific word on where this tech will fit in, but the possibilities are varied and far reaching.  Imagine a newspaper where each page continues to change.  But beyond the various uses for this technology, there is one simple fact that will keep this on our radar. It is very, very cool.

The display is still in production, so no word yet on when these displays will hit the market.

MSI and Asus are stepping up their monitor game. Both companies are now offering burn-in protection as part of the warranties on their OLED displays, which is a welcome layer of security considering how many displays both brands have launching this year.

MSI and Asus jumping on board brings that number to five, joining the ranks of Alienware, Corsair, and LG.

The two major innovations in gaming displays over the past few years have been OLED and mini-LED. These two types of displays have transformed the rather dire state of HDR for PC gamers, and now, you can find OLED and mini-LED options across gaming monitors, laptops, and TVs.

There’s a war brewing over OLED gaming monitors
The Last of Us Part One on the Alienware 27 QD-OLED.

Samsung and LG Display are teeing up to battle for the panel in your monitor.

Normally, you don't need to think about the panel inside your monitor. You look at the brand, assess the features, seek out an independent review, and make your buying decision. For OLED gaming monitors, however, the panel couldn't be more important, as LG and Samsung Display tackle the growing display technology in very different ways.
