GoPro’s first foray into the drone market took a bit of a nosedive recently when technical issues with the device forced the company to recall it just a couple of weeks after launch.

A small number of users reported that their Karma quadcopter suddenly lost power during flight, a potentially dangerous fault that left the California-based company with no choice but to withdraw its debut flying machine from sale until further notice.

All 2,500 customers who forked out $800 for the foldable drone are of course receiving a full refund once they return their Karma. But by way of apology for all the hassle and disappointment, and possibly as an incentive to ensure no one holds on to their potentially faulty – and therefore hazardous – machine, GoPro is offering its Karma customers a free Hero5 Black camera.

The $400 action camera launched at the same time as the Karma, and is one of only three cameras compatible with the drone. Two years in the making, the new Hero5 Black offers electronic image stabilization, voice control, and improved audio recording, among a raft of other features. Check out DT’s full review of GoPro’s latest action camera here.

While there’s a chance some of those Karma buyers already have a Hero5 Black – bought especially for use with their new drone – others will have been using the older Hero4 camera, in which case the freebie is likely to be warmly welcomed.

GoPro says on its recall page that “all components included with the Karma drone bundle, including Hero5 Black and Karma Grip, must be returned for a full refund,” so yes, to get your free Hero5 Black camera, you first have to return the entire Karma kit that you bought – which may or may not include a Hero5 Black camera.

“Once your complete return has been processed and refund issued, we will send you a Hero5 Black as a thank you,” GoPro says.

As for the troubled Karma drone, there’s no word yet on the cause of its technical issues, and whether it’ll be returning to the market anytime soon, but we’ll be sure to update just as soon as we hear something.

Early OnePlus 10 Pro renders reveal Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra-inspired camera bump
early oneplus 10 pro renders leak 2

Popular tech leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, who goes by @Onleaks on Twitter earlier today, posted the first-ever renders of the OnePlus 10 Pro. The renders, which appeared on e-commerce platform Zouton.com, reveal a triple camera array housed within a redesigned camera bump. If that camera bump looks somewhat familiar to you, it is probably because it seems to be heavily inspired by the one we all saw on the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.

As evident in the image below, the OnePlus 10 Pro's camera bump seems to extend from the phone's metal frame. Unlike the S21 Ultra, however, this bump doesn't extend all the way to the top of the phone's rear panel. Also noticeable is the fact that the OnePlus 10 Pro -- at least in this version -- will feature a triple-camera setup.

The Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro barely charge any faster than the Pixel 5
App screen on the Google Pixel 6 Pro.

With the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, Google appeared to have outdone the battery longevity of the already long-lasting Pixel 5 by offering bigger batteries and faster charging speeds to compensate. But an analysis done this weekend by android-focused tech blog Android Authority has found Google's Pixel charging speeds to be much more in line with older Pixels than the company would have you believe.

A test carried out by the tech publication showed that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro could only reach 22 watts at peak changing speeds -- just a little bit over the 18W you'll find on older Pixels. This means that the Pixel 6's charging time is also slower than the older Pixel 5 due to a combination of its bigger battery and its similar charging speeds. It takes the Pixel 6 just under two hours to reach a full charge, whereas the Pixel 5 would charge in a little over an hour and a half. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra with a 25W charger outpaces both. You can read the reasoning in the Android Authority piece, but the short version is Google's Pixel 6 drops wired charging speeds after 50%, whereas Samsung keeps a fast charging pace up to around 85%.

Google’s rumored Pixel Fold could have same camera hardware as the Pixel 5
Google Pixel 5

Google has reportedly been working on a foldable Pixel for next year, and new hints from Google's Camera app, spotted by 9t05Google, could have just revealed some of the details of the camera hardware.

Going off of details hidden in the Google camera app, the Pixel Fold is now said to be code-named Pipit instead of Passport. This kind of change has happened before, including when Google swapped out the development platform of the Pixel Slate from Cannon Lake to Kaby Lake, so it is possible that a similar hardware change has happened here.
