iOS9, world’s most powerful microchip: DT Daily

Apple’s first public beta test with a new version of iOS is underway. That means anyone with an iPhone 4s and newer, iPad 2 and newer, or an iPad Mini can download and start using iOS 9 right now. New features include a much smarter Siri, Proactive search, and new look multitasking. A word of warning though: Beta software is often unstable. So it may not be the best idea to install it on the iPhone you carry on a daily basis.

Thursday, IBM unveiled what’s considered the world’s smallest and most powerful microchip. Current top of the line chips have components that are 14 nanometers wide, but IBM’s new chip boasts transistors that are 7 manometers. That means the chip can provide 4 times the capacity of today’s chips. It will probably be a few years before this technology makes its way to market.
