Lightning Deal: Acer discounts the Swift 5 with 16GB RAM by 40% for Black Friday

One of the thinnest 15-inch notebooks, the Acer Swift 5 has hit a new low for Black Friday. The model’s highest-end variant that comes with 16GB of RAM and an Intel Core i7 chipset has been discounted by 40% on Amazon. The deal — which will run on November 29th from midnight Pacific Time for a mere 45 minutes — brings the Swift 5’s usual $1,399 price down to $839.99, an unrivaled amount for the hardware it offers.

The Acer Swift 5’s headlining feature is its lightweight design. Despite the 15.6-inch screen, it weighs 2.2 pounds, making it lighter than any other laptop in the market. In comparison, the 13-inch MacBook Air is 2.75 pounds and the 15-inch Microsoft Surface Laptop tips the scales at 3.4 pounds. At 0.63-inches, the Acer Swift 5 is also remarkably slender.

Remarkably, Acer has barely cut corners to reach that number. The Acer Swift 5 has an Intel 8th-gen Core i7-8565u processor, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of onboard SSD storage, a 1080p touchscreen, and a 4670 mAh battery that promises an endurance of about 10 hours.

It also has more ports than most of its competitors including two USB-A, a standard HDMI slot, a USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. On top of that, you’ll find a fingerprint scanner for Windows Hello and a full-size backlit keyboard. It comes preloaded with Windows 10 Home and supports Dolby Audio.

In our Acer Swift 5 review, the only downsides we discovered were the absence of a dedicated GPU option and poor touchpad quality. Apart from that, the Acer Swift 5 is largely a winner, especially at that price.

Thanks to the large screen and ample power, the Acer Swift 5 will be ideal for those who spend most of their time on entertainment or productivity apps. However, if your job involves resource-intensive tasks such as video editing or gaming, it’s not for you since there’s no dedicated GPU.

But you don’t have to settle if those two cons are a dealbreaker for your workflow. There is a range of other laptop sales from manufacturers like Microsoft and Dell you can look into. Head over to our curated deals section to browse more Black Friday and Cyber Week offers.
