Lenovo Labor Day Sale 2020: The 5 best deals

The end of summer heralds a busy sale season, with Labor Day, Black Friday, and now Amazon Prime Day (which has been pushed back from its usual summertime slot). Pretty much all the big PC brands and retailers run sales during this time, and it’s a great chance to grab a new computer for a new year of school and work, and the Lenovo Labor Day Sale is slashing prices on a bunch of great stuff. We’ve already picked out the five best deals from the Lenovo Labor Day Sale and rounded them up below, but if none of these catch your eye, you can shop everything on offer here:

Lenovo ThinkCentre M90n Mini Desktop PC — $579, was $1,499

Lenovo ThinkCentre M90n Mini Desktop PC

Modern computer hardware has only gotten faster and smaller (the main reason laptops now dominate the market), but as Moore’s Law continues apace, desktop PCs have also shrunk in size. The Lenovo ThinkCentre M90n is one such workstation with a tiny desktop footprint: Inside its small book-sized case sits an Intel Core i7-8665U processor paired with a whopping 16GB of RAM — much more than you usually see on any PC at this price point — plus a nice big 512GB solid-state drive for storage. Those are fantastic specs for any computer, let alone one that’s slightly smaller than a VHS tape.

For the Lenovo Labor Day Sale, you can enjoy a nice $920 discount off of the ThinkCentre M90n’s retail price, letting you grab this pint-sized PC for just $579.

Lenovo ThinkPad T495s Laptop — $750, was $1,859

Lenovo ThinkPad T495s 14-Inch Laptop

It’s not a proper Lenovo sale without some ThinkPads (you’ll see that name on two of our five picks), and the ThinkPad T495s has everything we love about these iconic laptops in a modern slimmed-down package. This sleek 14-inch 1080p laptop boasts a Ryzen 5 3500U CPU with built-in Radeon Vega 8 graphics, giving you some light gaming power that you don’t get with integrated motherboard-based graphics processing, along with 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. Those are very well-rounded specs for work and play, and they’re paired with the ThinkPad’s well-known build quality to withstand those inevitable bumps and scrapes.

The Lenovo Labor Day sale is your chance to grab this great workhorse ThinkPad for $750, which is a considerable markdown from its original MSRP tag of $1,859 (or about $250 off its current street price).

Lenovo Yoga C940 2-in-1 Laptop — $1,000, was $1,250

Lenovo Yoga C940

Lenovo makes some fantastic 2-in-1s in its Yoga line for those who are in the market for one of these versatile convertible laptops. The Yoga C940 is a premium convertible with everything you could want in a modern 2-in-1, right down to its snappy new 10th-gen Core i5 processor, 8GB of 3733MHz DDR4 RAM, and high-speed 256GB solid-state drive. What sets this laptop apart from the herd, however, is its vibrant 14-inch 1080p touchscreen which folds flat on its hinge (letting you use it in tablet or tent mode), with the added bonus of the display being an IPS panel which is more color-accurate and offers better viewing angles than the more common TN and VA panel technology.

The Lenovo Labor Day Sale cuts $250 off the Lenovo Yoga C940’s normal price, bringing this excellent 2-in-1 right in at $1,000. It even comes with an Active Pen stylus, an add-on you often have to pay extra for.

Lenovo Legion 5i Gaming Laptop — $1,000, was $1,300

Lenovo Legion 5i 17-Inch Gaming Laptop

Along with its solid computers for businesses, students, and working professionals, Lenovo offers some shockingly good gaming PCs and laptops in its Legion family. The Lenovo Legion 5i is a newer addition to this lineup, with this one packing one of the latest 10th-gen Core i7 six-core CPUs along with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a fat 512GB SSD. What gives this laptop its gaming power, however, is its Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti dedicated graphics card, which is a fantastic mid-range GPU for running the latest games in crisp 1080p at high settings.  Its 17.3-inch Full HD display is also an IPS panel, and that extra size makes this a good desktop replacement laptop that gives you more screen real estate while still being reasonably portable.

At $1,000 after a $300 discount for the Lenovo Labor Day Sale, the 17-inch Legion 5i is one of the best gaming laptops you’re going to find for around a grand at the moment.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 7 Laptop — $1,150, was $1,679

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (2018) review
Bill Roberson/Digital Trends

We still love the classic ThinkPads like the T495s above, but today, this line also features some of the best cutting-edge ultrabooks like the X1 Carbon. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon has been an enduring favorite of ours for a while now, and Lenovo has kept it nicely updated over the years. This seventh-generation model comes loaded with a 10th-gen Core i5-10210U processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD, which hit all the marks for a solid (and highly portable) work laptop. Its 14-inch 1080p IPS display hits the sweet spot in size between utility and portability, too, especially considering that it’s just over a half an inch thick and weighs in at just under 2.5 pounds — meaning this is a super-light, carry-friendly ultrabook that can follow you anywhere.

The Lenovo Labor Day Sale is slashing the price of the X1 Carbon down to $1,150, giving you a very nice $529 savings on what might just be our favorite modern ThinkPad.
