Get Gears 5’s thrilling mix of story and multiplayer for just $25 on Black Friday

Gears 5 is a major step forward for the franchise, building on the foundation of Gears of War 4 while introducing psychological horror elements and more emotional storytelling. If you haven’t picked up The Coalition’s magnum opus yet, you can get it for just $25 through Amazon’s Black Friday sale.

Typically priced at $60, Gears 5 is more than half off during Amazon’s Black Friday sale, and the game’s Ultimate Edition is also available at a heavily discounted price. Picking up shortly after the events of Gears of War 4, the sequel primarily follows Kait Diaz as she works to uncover the truth of her lineage and connection to the Locust and Swarm threats. It takes far more risks than its predecessor, including some truly surprising twists, and its open-ended areas offer side activities that we haven’t seen from the series before.

The fun doesn’t stop with the campaign, however. Gears 5 includes a fantastic competitive multiplayer mode that will test your skills in defending positions and getting the drop on enemies using a variety of weapons. Once you’ve had your fill of it, you can jump into cooperative modes like Horde and Escape for a completely different gameplay experience, or even run through the campaign with a friend at your side. For newcomers, a controllable robot named Jack offers an alternative to a traditional character, with easy controls letting them still serve a role in your squad.

Should your friends be split between Xbox One and PC, you can still play Gears 5 with all of them. The game supports crossplay across its modes, meaning a PC player and Xbox One players can enjoy the game together. It also has cross-save support, so if you also get the PC version down the line, you can pick up right where you left off and swap between the two whenever you want.

The savings you’ll get on Gears 5 make it one of the best Xbox One Black Friday deals we’ve seen this year. Be sure to check back for the best Cyber Monday deals so you can score even more savings on the biggest games, consoles, accessories, and more.

If you want to play your PlayStation 4 games online, you're going to need a PlayStation Plus subscription, and the new consoles only tend to come with a short trial certificate in the box. Luckily, Amazon is offering a $15 Black Friday discount on a yearly membership, and you can redeem it instantly using a digital code.

Typically $60, a PlayStation Plus yearly membership is $45 on Amazon right now. Even if you are set up with automatic renewal, it's a good idea to purchase the membership via the deal in order to extend your subscription without having your card automatically charged. PlayStation Plus is required for multiplayer in almost all PS4 games, save for a select few free-to-play titles, and is almost certainly going to be required for multiplayer on the PlayStation 5 when it launches next year.
