This Verizon smartphone deal gives you up to $1,000 for your broken phone

Andrew Martonik/Digital Trends

It’s a question as old as smartphones themselves: What do we do with our old iPhone or Android phone when we no longer need it (especially if it’s cracked or no longer turns on)? Well, to go along with these smartphone deals, Verizon has a solution. Right now, you can take advantage of a special offer and receive up to $1,000 when you trade your old phone into Verizon. The newest 5G phones, and a place to trade in old phones for up to $1,000! Where do we sign up?

This deal sounds too good to be true; it even gave us pause at first. The catch, if you can call it that, is that you need to switch over to Verizon if you want the maximum rebate on your new Phone. Verizon is offering up to $800 for your old phone (and that would be for the newest phone; chances are you will get something less); the other $200 comes in the form of a gift card that can be used toward your new phone, or to purchase accessories or other Verizon services.

Brass tacks: In the past, Verizon has offered competitive trade-in values on old phones, but those discounts would drop precipitously if your old phone had a cracked screen, or if it was broken — for instance, if it would not turn on. Right now, Verizon will offer you the same amount of money for an old phone, even if it’s broken (the only exception is if your battery is leaking or damaged; that’s a no-go).

For example, let’s say you had last year’s Apple iPhone SE and were looking to upgrade to the new 128GB Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max, which costs $1,099 at Verizon, or $37 per month for 30 months. With your trade-in value of $700 on that iPhone SE, the cost of that phone drops to $399, or a monthly bill of $14 per month. If you’re switching from another carrier, the port-in bonus gives you an additional $200, which could bring the cost of your new phone down to $199, or just $7 per month. That’s next to nothing for the newest, most impressive iPhone. And there are so many other options, like the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, the Apple iPhone 12 Mini. You really can’t go wrong.

This is the perfect time to trade in an old Apple or Android smartphone and get a great deal on a hot new 5G smartphone. Right now, if you port-in with Verizon, you can trade in an old phone, even one that is not working or has a cracked screen, and receive up to $1,000 toward the purchase of a new smartphone. The very best 5G phones are among those available, so don’t miss out.

Cyber Monday is your last chance to get an iPhone for $99
The front of the iPhone SE (2020).

It's a deal that keeps getting better and better as time passes. You can get an iPhone SE (2020 edition) that is locked to Straight Talk, one of America's best prepaid phone plans, for only $99 at Walmart. That's $50 off of the standard price of the locked phone at $149 and way lower than you'll be able to get an unlocked iPhone SE for, but you need to hurry if you want to avail yourself of it because similar offers are already sold out. Thanks to being part of Cyber Monday phone deals, this is the lowest price yet on this particular phone, but today's your last chance to take advantage of it. There's no other major shopping event remaining this year, so you should buy the iPhone SE now to get it in time for the holidays.

This incredible $99 iPhone Black Friday deal is still available today
apple iphone se 2022 survey 40 percent eager to buy 2020

The shopping holiday is now over, but some excellent Black Friday deals remain such as this deal from Walmart on the iPhone SE that's one of the cheapest Apple deals we've seen so far. Granted, it's for the iPhone SE 2020 version, and you have to go through Straighttalk to get it, but Walmart is still giving it away for $99, down from the usual $149. We're not sure how much time you've got left to avail this offer though, and whether it will appear in the retailer's Cyber Monday deals, so you need to take advantage of the bargain now while it's still online.

Google Pixel 7 — $500, was $600

The first of our Black Friday phone deals is the very delightful Google Pixel 7, a phone we've already declared one of the best phones of 2022. The water-resistant Pixel 7 has a 6.3-inch screen, runs on Android 13, and uses the Google Tensor G2 processor. By default, you can grab it with 128GB of memory, but feel free to go for the 256GB or 512GB versions to boost your power; they aren't that much more expensive. Additionally, as we mention in our Google Pixel 7 review, the phone's camera is absolutely fantastic. The 50-megapixel main camera creates "vibrant, balanced, and visually punchy photos" via optical image stabilization (OIS) and overall excellent handling of lighting. Plus, get cool bonus features like live language translation and great security from the Titan M2 security chip built right into the phone. Don't forget to get one of the best Pixel 7 cases and covers when you pick up yours today!
