Apex Legends Season 4: Assimilation to add brawler Forge, and possibly Revenant

Respawn Entertainment is preparing to kick off Apex LegendsSeason 4: Assimilation, with a developer livestream revealing Forge, a new character.

Forge, a former MMA champion, will mix things up in Apex Legends as a close-range brawler. Forge’s abilities have not yet been revealed, but it is likely that they will allow him to bridge the distance with opponents so that instead of guns, he can use his fists to take them down.

Forge is sponsored by Hammond Robotics, a familiar name in the Titanfall universe as a weapons and Titans manufacturer. Respawn teased that changes are coming to World’s Edge, and the company may somehow be involved.

In addition to Forge, Respawn revealed that Season 4: Assimilation will also introduce the Sentinel, a bolt-action sniper rifle that is expected to be slower but more powerful than the other sniper rifles that are already in the game. As expected, there will also be a new Battle Pass that will allow players to unlock more than 100 exclusive items.

Season 4 will also introduce Ranked Series 3, which will work a bit differently. Senior gameplay designer Chin Xiang Chong said in the livestream that it will be divided into two periods, with the first period on World’s Edge and the second period on Kings Canyon, the original map of Apex Legends. Players’ ranks will reset in between the periods, and the rewards that they will receive at the end of the season will be based on the highest rank earned across the two periods.

Gamers expected Revenant, who first appeared in last year’s Shadowfall map for Halloween, as the next character joining the Apex Legends roster. However, it looks like the mysterious robot will also soon be added to the game.

In addition to an easily-missed cameo on the livestream, an image of Revenant was discovered at the backend of the Electronic Arts website. This suggests that there may be two new characters coming to Apex Legends in Season 4, with Revenant joining in the middle of it, or perhaps even alongside Forge.

Apex Legends‘ Season 4: Assimilation is set to start on February 4, right on the battle royale shooter’s first anniversary.

And with the game’s latest season, Defiance, it's putting its own spin on another traditional shooter staple.
