Avowed preload guide: release date, file size, and more

A spellcaster holds a book in Avowed.
Xbox / Xbox

We don’t know for sure if Avowed will be one of the best Xbox Series X games, but hopes are high that it will be. This year is packed with amazing upcoming video games like Doom The Dark Ages and The Outer Worlds 2, but Avowed is the first to kick off Xbox’s year. RPG fans are beyond excited to visit the Living Lands for the first time knowing the level of quality Obsidian is capable of. Besides knowing what type of character you want to be and what weapons you want to play with, you need to make sure your console or PC is ready to let you into the action as soon as the game launches. Here are all the preload details you need to know about Avowed.

Avowed file size

Xbox Game Studios / Obsidian

Avowed will be just under 72GB on PC, so having 75GB free is the recommended requirement.

The Xbox file size hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, but it shouldn’t be too different from the PC version. If you want to be safe, make sure you have at least 100GB of space clear on your console.

Avowed preload options

Xbox Game Studios

Anyone who has preordered Avowed can already preload the game on Xbox consoles. That includes preorders through Game Pass, regardless of which version you preorder. Simply visit the store page on your console and choose to preinstall it. For now, the file will only be around 325MB but will be much larger closer to launch.

PC players will have to wait a little longer before preloading becomes available, if at all. Until we get official word on whether or not PC players will be able to preload, it might be safer to assume you will have to download the game completely at launch.

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault: release window, trailers, gameplay, and more
The shop in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.

It is hard for even the best indie games to stand out from the crowd, but in 2018 one little roguelike called Moonlighter managed to do just that. Besides evoking some 2D Zelda vibes, it mashed up its dungeon crawling with a shop sim where you needed to price, sell, and manage your shop between runs in the dungeon to collect more treasures to sell. Much like Ninja Gaiden 4 and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, we had no idea a sequel was on the way until Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault was announced. Now that it is, it has become one of our most anticipated upcoming video games. Let's grab our oversized backpacks and head into the dungeon to see what nuggets of information we can about Moonlighter 2.

Directive 8020: release date, trailers, gameplay, and more
A woman in cryosleep in Directive 8020.

The team at Supermassive Games made a name for themselves with one of the best horror games Until Dawn. Since then, the team has produced new narrative horror games almost every year, with their next upcoming video game revealed to be Directive 8020. Between Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and Saros, there are a lot of upcoming PS5 games set in space to look forward to. However, none promise to blend horror with a narrative driven by player choice like this. Supermassive Games haven't approached sci-fi horror in their games yet, so let's make all the right choices to learn everything about Directive 8020 and hopefully survive.

A ton of games have been announced this year, so keep up to date with our lists of upcoming Xbox Series X games, upcoming Switch games, and upcoming PC games.

Where to find the cartographer in Emerald Stair in Avowed
Environmental shot of Galawains Tusks Slumbering Fields in Avowed.

You will probably have a good grip on all the tips and tricks needed to beat Avowed by the time you reach the second zone, Emerald Stair. However, no matter how many abilities you have or how good your gear is, finding a missing person with just a vague hint never gets any easier. We already helped Sanza find a missing cartographer in Dawntrail, but he has lost another in Emerald Stair and needs us to track them down. Like last time, the Avowed won't tell you where to go so we explored the entire region to show you exactly where to track them down.
Where to find the cartographer in Emerald Stair

The first cartographer quest at least gave you the general direction to find them, but this time we are only given the name of the area within Emerald Stair. The area in question is called Naku Tedek and is the isolated island on the south end of the map.
