Disney is set to return to the realm of toy-meets-game experiences this fall with Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes, coming to PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as iOS, PC, and Wii U. The company revealed the next stage of Infinity’s life at a Los Angeles event, delivering a first look at both the game and the toys that power it.

The initial starter pack will include three familiar faces from Marvel’s Avengers: Black Widow, Iron Man, and Thor. Three others are also confirmed: Hulk, Captain America, and Hawkeye. Other reveals are promised — “a dozen more,” according to Disney’s John Vignocchi — and while none are confirmed, trailers and gameplay clips shown during the demo point to a few possibilities, including some that exist outside Marvel Studios’ cinematic universe.

Spider-Man and Loki both popped up, as did Winter Soldier, M.O.D.O.K., Rocket Raccoon, and Groot (the latter two appear in this summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy). More than 80 new power discs will open up other opportunities for more characters from the Marvel universe, whether it’s calling in an ally like Iron Patriot or switching to an alternate Iron Man costume. There’s also a boosted level cap, an elaborate skill tree, and the necessary addition of new powers, like hover, flight, and wall-crawling.

The game also features an assortment of new, themed vehicles, expanded world sizes, a re-vamped approach to the sandbox creation mode Toy Box, and as-yet-unrevealed characters from the non-Marvel Disney universe. What’s more, all toys and accessories from 2013’s Disney Infinity are forward-compatible with 2.0.

With E3 approaching quickly, you can bet on hearing more about Disney Infinity 2.0 very soon.
