Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six Quarantine delayed until at least April 2021

Two of Ubisoft’s biggest upcoming games are being delayed. Far Cry 6 and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Quarantine will now launch sometime after March 2021.

The news comes from Ubisoft’s latest earnings report, which updated the release targets for both games. Neither game was given a firm release date, but both are now slated to release during Ubisoft’s next fiscal year, which means that they will launch between April 2021 and March 2022.

The earnings report cites the COVID-19 pandemic as a partial cause of the delays, mentioning “production challenges related to work from home.”

Far Cry 6 was scheduled to launch on February 18, while Rainbow Six Quarantine had yet to receive a firm date. Previously, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot had told investors the latter would launch in the current fiscal year, meaning it would have released before March 2021.

The Far Cry 6 Twitter account confirmed the delay, echoing Ubisoft’s sentiment about the pandemic’s effect on development.

“While we know you are all anxious to get your hands on Far Cry 6, we want to let you know that we’ve been given more time to allow us to make this the game you aspire to play while focusing on the well-being of our teams in this unprecedented global context,” the statement reads.

Rainbow Six Extraction: How to grind XP fast
A squad looks at a red alien spore in Rainbow Six Extraxction.

The loop of Rainbow Six Extraction is very different from the game it's based on, Rainbow Six Siege. Instead of everything resetting between rounds, Rainbow Six Extraction has permanent progression and unlocks that allow you and your squad to take on the game's tougher difficulty levels a bit easier. Each Operator in the game has their own individual level, with gear and skills to unlock as you get more XP, but you also have an overall level. These are both important to increase, but the game isn't always generous with dishing out XP.

You only start with nine of the 18 Operators in Rainbow Six Extraction and have to unlock the rest via leveling up. Additionally, the Operators you do have all have individual levels that need to be raised by using them. That would be simple enough, but because you can't always use the same Operator all the time, you will want to maximize how much XP you get while they are fit and ready for action. We've scanned all the intel and made a safe extraction to bring you the best ways to grind XP fast in Rainbow Six Extraction.

Rainbow Six Extraction will turn you into a better squad mate
A squad attacks an alien in Rainbow Six Extraction.

My first Rainbow Six Extraction mission didn’t quite go as planned.

During a demo event, I was paired up with two strangers who would become my close squadmates for nearly four hours. Having completed a solo tutorial with little trouble, I went into our inaugural mission thinking I’d carry my team to victory as a party of one. One swarm of slimy aliens later, I was out of action, cocooned in a sickly yellow shell. My poor teammates had to abort the mission, toss my immobilized body on their shoulders, and extract me to safety. I was quite literally dead weight.
