Here’s the full list of winners from the 2020 Game Awards

The 2020 Game Awards are sure to be a major topic of conversation around the gaming world this year. Between game reveals, announcements, and special guests, the Oscars-style spectacle should keep people talking for days.

The Last of Us Part II largely cleaned up at this year’s ceremony, taking home seven awards including Game of the Year and Best Game Direction. No game came close to picking up as many awards, with Game of the Year nominee Doom Eternal getting shutout entirely. Final Fantasy VII Remake picked up two awards for Best Score and Best RPG, while Animal Crossing: New Horizons won Best Family game.

Indie games made an impact in a few categories, with Hades picking up wins for Best Indie and Best Action game. Meanwhile, 2018 game Among Us landed some major wins, nabbing Best Multiplayer and Best Mobile. Indie horror hit Phasmophobia took home an award for Best Debut.

The 2025 Independent Games Festival nominee list features some shockers

The nominees for the 27th Annual Independent Games Festival have been revealed. UFO 50, Thank Goodness You're Here, and more will compete for this year's top honors, the Seamus McNally Grade Prize, but there's one shocker that didn't make the final cut: Balatro.

The Independent Games Festival awards ceremony takes place every year at Game Developers Conference, with this year's set to take place March 17-21. The show celebrates independent games, often nominating unexpected deep cuts and upcoming games that go on to become critical darlings. Last year's ceremony, for instance, featured multiple nominations for 1000xResist ahead of its official release. That would go on to become one of 2024's best-reviewed games.

Nintendo and The Lego Group continue to collaborate, as the pair teased a Lego version of the Game Boy handheld today.

The Game Boy, which celebrated its 35th anniversary in July 2024, is the best-selling video game platform of all time as it popularized portable gaming and featured a series of must-own titles, from Tetris to Pokémon Red and Blue. This product, set to be released in October 2025, will allow players to build a Lego version of the handheld.
