Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn releases its first full length trailer

halo 4 forward unto dawn releases its first full length trailerOne day, with luck, humanity will be at peace. We will reach a place where our aggressive tendencies have been controlled, and our neighbors in the cosmos will join us in cooperation to help reach new levels of understanding. If you are hoping for a glimpse at that possible future, the Halo universe is not the best place to start.

After almost single handedly beating back the Covenant and Flood forces, Master Chief has had a few years to nap in preparation for his next great challenge which will play out in a trilogy of games known as the Forerunner Saga. That new war will begin with the upcoming Halo 4, which is scheduled for release as an Xbox 360 exclusive on November 6. Plenty of blood will be spilt, and millions of sticky grenades will be used in hilarious ways.

But before the gaming action begins, 343 Industries will unveil the live-action web series, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn.

The story will begin with the Covenant invasion, and lead up to the events that begin Halo 4. But rather than focusing on Master Chief, the series will revolve around a group of UNSC cadets who think they are about to go to war with colonial insurrectionists. The Spartans on the planet Reach thought the same thing, right up until the Covenant’s invasion began. The story will primarily follow cadet Thomas Lasky, a soldier with unfulfilled promise. Thanks to the timely intervention of Master Chief, Lasky realizes what he must do in order to become the leader his people need.

With Comic-Con underway this week in San Diego, we have now received our first full length trailer which you can see below courtesy of our friends at Machinima. A teaser for the web series was released earlier this month, but this is the first in-depth look we’ve had of the show.

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn will debut on October 5 and unfold through five episodes, totaling 90 minutes. The series will be released on Halo Waypoint and Machinima’s YouTube channel, and it will also be included as part of the Halo 4 Limited Edition Bundle.

Just Cause 4 revels in explosions and over-the-top action, but its world feels empty and hollow. With few new ideas and a stale open world, it's a fun but shallow piece of escapism.
