Upload your save from PS4 version

Before you attempt anything, you’ll need to have both versions of the game: Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 and Remastered on PS5. You can use the digital or physical edition of the PS4 game — but keep in mind that Remastered is only available on PS5 digitally. Both need to be updated to their latest versions, and you must use the same PSN account across both.

To start, load up your copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4. This can be done via a PS4 or through the PS5 using backward compatibility. If you have the disc, simply insert it into the PS5 system. If you have a digital copy, you’ll need to specifically download the PS4 game onto your system. Make sure it’s the PS4 version and not the Remastered edition on PS5. To download it, head to your Game Library on PS5, and you’ll be able to categorize your list by platform. Filter it by PS4 games, and you’ll see your PS4 copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man here. Download it, and you’ll be ready to go.

Once you’ve booted up the PS4 version, press R1 from the game’s main menu to upload the save of your choice. You’ll get a notice that says “Upload Save?” Press X to continue, and assuming you’re connected to the internet and are using the game’s latest update, it’ll tell you it’s successful.

Overnight we released an update for Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 bringing those suits, and the ability to export your save to Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered.

We also updated Remastered to allow import of those exported saves and with many additional fixes (incl. rest mode crash) https://t.co/LVnYVykc0Q

The next step is to boot up your copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PS5. After you’ve loaded into the main menu, press R1 to download the PS4 console save. A text box will then appear that reads “Download PS4 Console Save?” Press X to confirm, and it’ll tell you it’s successful. Now, you’ll be able to pick up right where you left off on PS4.

The best part is that every trophy you unlocked on the PS4 version will automatically unlock for PS5, meaning if you got the platinum the first time around, you’ll get it again with almost zero effort. Since there are two trophy lists, you’re basically double dipping, which is a neat feature for trophy hunters.

The best Metroidvanias on PS5
A hero looks up in Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist.

The Metroidvania genre takes cues from the two namesakes for which it is called: Matroid and Castlevania. Specifically, one of the best SNES games, Super Metroid, and one of the best PS1 games, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It describes a kind of game where the player explores an open map with multiple paths and areas locked off until they acquire some item or power with which to unlock and further explore. That formula has become so popular that dozens of current and upcoming video games have iterated on that style with new mechanics, perspectives, art styles, and more. Some of the best PS5 games are Metroidvanias, and the platform is home to the best the genre has to offer. If you're searching for your next Metroidvania to get lost in, here are the best ones you can play right now.
