It looks like US Xbox One buyers may receive a free game after all

Add as a preferred source on Google

If you buy an Xbox One in Europe on or before the recently announced November 22 launch, you will receive a copy of FIFA 14 at no additional cost while supplies last. That’s great news for fans in Europe who will get a bit of added value with their purchase, but so far Microsoft could show the NSA a thing or two about security as an equivalent North American hasn’t been announced, or even hinted at. At least not officially.

We’ve received what appears to be a chat transcript between a Microsoft Store representative and a customer, our tipster. In it, the rep categorically states that American bundles of the Xbox One will also contain a game, but that game’s identity has yet to be confirmed.

“About the U.S. Xbox One, as of the moment, the Game which will be free is still yet to be announced however, there will be a free game for the pre-ordered Xbox One,” the rep said (emphasis added). “You can check the information once we have it updated on our news.xbox.com website or you will be updated on your email address which you have the Xbox account linked to.”

We contacted Microsoft for confirmation of this and were told, “Regarding a bundle for North America, as with many products, bundle offers differ from country to country. We’re committed to offering fantastic value to all our customers and have nothing further to announce at this time.”

Microsoft’s response is no surprise – it was word for word the same reply we received when we asked about a U.S. bundle following Gamescom. The alleged Microsoft Store employee on the other hand, was a bit more open. “We are very excited about the Xbox One and we are also waiting for the announcement of the free game we will be receiving,” the rep wrote.

It should be noted that on our fact check with Microsoft Store chat, a customer service representative referred a similar question to the Xbox product phone support line.

Assuming this information is accurate, the question becomes: which game will be included? The obvious guess is Madden 25, since, like FIFA 14, it is an EA Sports game. Globally, FIFA 13 sold more than twice as many copies as Madden 13 in 2012. If EA is willing to box FIFA 14 for Europe, there’s no reason to think it wouldn’t also be willing to offer up Madden 25 to U.S. audiences. For now though, we’ll have to wait and see.

Intel Arc G3 Extreme Tested: Intel has finally arrived in handheld gaming
Intel's new handheld chip brings serious performance without treating the battery like an afterthought.
MSI Claw Intel Arc G3 Extreme Logo 2

I first caught a glimpse of Intel's new handheld silicon at Computex 2026, where I saw early hardware powered by it, including the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ and Acer Predator Atlas 8. But seeing a chip run a demo on a show floor and actually pushing it through real-world workloads are two very different things. When MSI eventually sent me the production Claw for a spin, I finally got that opportunity. I only had the device for a short time, but that brief window was enough to make one thing clear: Intel's Arc G3 Extreme is a seriously capable handheld gaming platform.

Logitech’s PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE HITS differently — and it made me rethink clicking
Turns out, the humble left click had a lot more room to evolve than I thought.
Logitech PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE Design 1

Between reviewing tech for a living and spending most of my day in front of a screen, free time is a luxury. Yet almost every evening, I somehow find myself queueing up for two or three ranked Valorant games. My peak rank is Ascendant 1, and while I'm far from going pro, competitive FPS titles are where I put hundreds of hours every year.

For the longest time, my trusty Logitech G502 X Plus LIGHTSPEED was always waiting on my desk. It wasn't the lightest mouse around, but it felt dependable. I'd flirt with lightweight esports mice now and then, only to come crawling back a few days later. Most of them either felt too hollow, too small, or simply lacked the reassuring heft I had grown accustomed to. Then the Logitech PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE showed up, and for the first time, my G502 has been gathering dust.

Minecraft is coming to Switch 2, and even the Creepers are getting prettier
Nintendo's Switch 2 is getting one of the biggest video games of all time.
Minecraft

Minecraft has spent years proving that blocks can run on practically anything with a screen. On October 27, it will finally move into a home built specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2. Mojang has confirmed that the native Switch 2 version of Minecraft will launch with Vibrant Visuals enabled by default, using the newer console’s additional power to spruce up its famously square Overworld. Existing Nintendo Switch owners will also receive a digital upgrade path, though Mojang says pricing and other details will arrive later.
