‘Killzone: Shadow Fall’ gallery

Among the handful of others announced at Sony’s recent press conference, Guerrilla Games announced that their new title Killzone: Shadow Fall would be released as a launch title for Sony’s PS4.

So where is this game chronologically in relation to previous Killzone titles? Glad you asked. According to a blog post from the game’s director Steven Ter Heide, Shadow Fall takes place in 2381 in Vekta City. That’s roughly thirty years after the events that took place in Killzone 3, so the world has changed quite a bit. In 2381, two rival factions – the Helghast and the Vektans – live side by side in a city separated by a massive wall. The two groups are in something of a cold war, but after an attack (perhaps the one in this trailer?), things quickly get hot, and you’re they only guy who can cool things down.

Leon parries a chainsaw villager in Resident Evil 4.

There are so many classic games from the past that have become difficult for new players to experience. The farther away in time we get from these games' releases, the more difficult it can get to not only get the game itself but also the extra hardware needed to play them. That alone is a major barrier that turns people away from playing games many consider to be some of the greatest of all time. Remakes offer a new generation a chance to experience some of the most influential games of the past, as well as give fans of the originals a brand new way to play them all over again. The best remakes take what made a game so great before and modernize it for the current audience without losing that magical spark. It isn't an easy process, but here are the games that managed to pull it off.

Remember the days when you could easily trade or borrow games with friends and family? It used to be possible for players to share cartridges or discs to try games with friends before buying them, but with the rise in the popularity of digital games, sharing discs and cartridges isn't as plausible as it used to be.

PlayStation Plus is the perfect stocking stuffer for RPG fans this year
Yuffie holding three materia in FF7 Remake Intergrade.

I thought I had my fill of gaming subscription services. PlayStation Plus's price increase turned me off and the offerings of Xbox Game Pass never fit my fancy. While both of these have their positives, I've never been one to just drop so much money every month for a bunch of games I don't really care about. That was until I jumped into my yearly Christmas-time RPG mood and discovered the bounty of classics that's built up on PS Plus.
