Kratos takes on the Mortal Kombat fighters in this new trailer

Not content to just beat the crap out of the most legendary gods and monsters in Greek mythology, Kratos has decided to branch out and take the lunch money from the fighters of the Mortal Kombat universe as well. The former Spartan turned minion of Ares, turned God of War will be soon be fighting to take the title of defender of Earth as well. You can’t fault the guy for lack of ambition.

Appearing as a PS3 exclusive character, Kratos will bring the pain with a modified set of moves based on his powers and abilities from the God of War series. Check out some of his attacks in the trailer below, which sadly does not show what is certainly an awesomely brutal fatality. And no, the 360 version does not have an exclusive character of its own, unfortunately.

Mortal Kombat is due for PS3 and Xbox 360 on April 19.

For many now, gaming is an escape and a perfect tool for relaxation. Many have taken it up for the first time in years if the shortage of Nintendo Switch consoles is anything to go by. Fortunately, 2020 has been host to many fantastic titles this year. From PlayStation exclusives such as The Last of Us: Part II and Ghost of Tsushima, to smaller hidden gems such as Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Aside from the slew of new titles landing every other week that demand players' attention, there's also a host of older titles and CDKeys is currently hosting a sale on many of those.

The end of the year is looking promising with next-generation systems arriving in the form of Sony's PlayStation 5 and Microsoft's Xbox Series X, but there has never been a better time to look back. There's massive online experiences such as the apocalyptic Fallout 76, or story-driven, action-RPGs in the form of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. No doubt there's something to tantalize you, whether you're a brand-new console owner or a seasoned veteran. Both massive AAA titles and hidden gems are included in the sale and demand players' attention to download and play.

Mortal Kombat 11 is bringing in 80s film icon RoboCop for its upcoming Aftermath expansion that will add an epilogue to its story.

While Mortal Kombat is no stranger to post-launch support, Aftermath marks the first DLC to include story elements. Launching May 26, the expansion will feature two returning characters in the god of wind Fujin and Sheeva, a half-dragon and half-human who first appeared in Mortal Kombat 3. Those two fighters will be in the new cinematic story that sees Liu Kang team up with an old foe in Shang Tsung. It's unknown if RoboCop, who is voiced by actor Peter Weller, will have an actual role or if he will just be a bonus character. Three skin packs are also included in Aftermath, which will cost $40.

2019 world video game hall of fame solitaire mortal kombat inductees

The Strong's World Video Game Hall of Fame class of 2019 immortalizes four inductees that hold a special place in the history of the video game industry.

The first inductee is Colossal Cave Adventure, a text-based game that launched in 1976. It had no graphics and relied on players to type written commands, but it offered "a fully-realized realm to explore," with treasures and puzzles, laying down the foundation for fantasy and adventure games. "The best games fire the imagination," said the director of The Strong’s International Center for the History of Electronic Games, Jon-Paul Dyson.
