Seagate expands into the world of gaming accessories with the 2TB Game Drive for Xbox

More consumers than ever are buying their games digitally instead of physical discs, but this is happening as games are getting bigger than ever. Grand Theft Auto V for the Xbox One weights in at 42.44GB, while Halo: The Master Chief Collection takes up a massive 65GB. With games that size, even a 1TB Xbox One will run out of room fairly quickly.

Microsoft recently updated the Xbox One to feature 1TB of internal storage, but what if you don’t want to buy a new console? Seagate has taken it upon itself to address this problem, as today it announced the 2TB Game Drive for Xbox. You might notice the lack of the word “One” in the name, which is because the drive works with both the Xbox One and Xbox 360.

“With all of the new and amazing titles expected for this holiday season and a ton more games coming in the future, Xbox gamers will need even more storage and portability,” Microsoft’s Matt Kesselring said in the press release announcing the new drive. “Microsoft is privileged to be working with Seagate as our trusted partner for this important designed for Xbox peripheral.”

The drive connects via USB 3.0 and is built with a green and black body to fit in perfectly with either console. This isn’t the only option for an external drive for your Xbox, but it certainly is a nice-looking one. Small enough to easily carry in your pocket, the Game Drive for Xbox is bus-powered, so no external power adapter is necessary.

While Seagate is well known for its hard drives, so far they’ve all been intended for use with a computer. While the Game Drive for Xbox is the company’s first product for the Xbox One, it seems that it intends to continue the relationship, especially if the drive sells well.

“This exciting new collaboration with Microsoft Xbox is an important milestone for Seagate that will help us to reach a new audience, which has an insatiable appetite for storage,” Seagate director of product marketing Jeff Fochtman said. “There was a clearly defined need in this market for additional plug-and-play storage, and Seagate is happy to be able to provide the solution.”

The Seagate Game Drive for Xbox goes on sale later this month for $110, and will be available from Amazon, GameStop, and other retailers worldwide.

A classic platformer trilogy is coming to Xbox Game Pass tomorrow
Spyro flies off away from an attack with white mountains in the background.

After a little tease earlier today, Xbox quickly confirmed that the Spyro Reignited Trilogy is coming to Xbox Game Pass shortly. Best of all, it's hitting multiple tiers, including Game Pass Standard.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy includes Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon, and will be added to the subscription service on November 12 -- so, tomorrow. It'll be available on Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard.

Xbox Game Pass is getting tons of new games following Black Ops 6 success
A cockpit view in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

We know a lot of you are playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on Xbox right now, but the company just announced some games coming to Xbox Game Pass -- specifically the Game Pass Standard tier -- in the first half of November.

The biggest game coming to the service (and we mean that literally) is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Xbox and developers Asobo Studio previously reported that it will have a smaller install size than its predecessor -- 127GB versus 157GB -- but it'll also require 64GB of RAM. All of this is to help stream immense detail to the player as they fly around the world. Asobo says helped it to increase "the detail of its virtual environment by a factor of 4,000." Alongside the hyperrealistic graphics is a new career mode where you go through training and missions to become a pilot and a challenge mode where you compete against other pilots. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is coming to Game Pass at launch on November 19.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was a monumental addition to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate last week, so no week of additions to the service will live up to that for a while. Still, that didn't stop some more games from trickling onto Microsoft's subscription service in the wake of the latest Call of Duty. In fact, the games that came to the service were quite good. If you're wondering what you should be checking out next as a Game Pass subscriber after you're done with Black Ops 6, consider trying one of these games.

ASHEN | Gamescom 2018 Gameplay

In July, A44 released Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, and it was part of Xbox Game Pass from day one. Now, the studio has brought its previous Soulslike to the subscription service. Originally released in 2018, Ashen stood out from the crowd at the time thanks to its distinct, grayish cel-shaded look and open-world design years before Elden Ring came out. Ashen still stands as one of the best indie Soulslikes ever released, so those who have never played it before should give it a shot now that it's on Xbox Game Pass. It'll also make for an enjoyable Game Pass Soulslike double-feature with Flintlock.
