Here’s how to watch the ‘Super Smash Bros.’ Nintendo Direct event on November 1

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is less than two months away, and the Nintendo hype machine is operating at full power. To help prepare fans for what to expect in the game, Nintendo will be hosting a special Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct event on November 1. Here’s how you can watch the event.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct will begin at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT and will last for about 40 minutes. You can tune in at Nintendo’s official website, but if you don’t want to go to another site, you can watch it via Twitch at the top of this page.

Nintendo hasn’t specified what will be shown during the Nintendo Direct event, but said it feature “new information on the game.” In the past, Nintendo has used these events as opportunities to show off new features and new stages, and make character announcements. We’ve learned about multiple Castlevania characters through Nintendo Direct events, as well as the addition of Donkey Kong’s King K. Rool.

But don’t stop watching once the Nintendo Direct event has concluded! Following the presentation, a Nintendo Treehouse: Live event will begin, and it will focus on several upcoming Switch games. These include Pokémon: Let’s Go, Yoshi’s Crafted World, and Diablo III: Eternal Collection. The Treehouse event will also include additional live gameplay from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Available 12.7.2018 - Nintendo Switch

Thus far, Nintendo has announced 68 different characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The roster includes every single fighter ever seen in another game in the series, with some acting as “echoes” of other fighters. This means that they basically have the same moves and abilities as the character they’re echoing, but Nintendo seems to have realized that fan service is more important than anything else with Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also includes more than 100 playable stages, each with different “forms” for competitive players not interested in hazards. A “stage morph” feature also allows you to switch to a second stage midbattle, which should help bring a new layer of intensity to multiplayer fights.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate comes exclusively to Nintendo Switch on December 7. Using an adapter, it will be compatible with GameCube controllers.

Nintendo’s Zelda movie needs to be nothing like The Super Mario Bros. Movie
Link pulls out the master sword in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The long-rumored The Legend of Zelda live-action movie is actually happening, with Nintendo confirming that it's officially in production. It’s a logical move following The Super Mario Bros. Movie, one of the year’s highest-grossing films. Video game adaptations appear to be in fashion more than ever before -- seemingly dethroning superhero movies in the process -- and it’s undeniably exciting to see more and more of my favorite franchises make their way to the big screen.

But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried.

Indie World Showcase November 2023: How to watch and what to expect
Key art for the November 2023 Indie World.

Nintendo is not done with video game showcases this year just yet. In the wake of a Nintendo Direct in September and ahead of The Game Awards in December, Nintendo will hold another Indie World Showcase to highlight several independent games coming to the Nintendo Switch soon. If you plan on tuning into the event live, we've rounded up all the information you need to know about it beforehand.

When is the November 2023 Indie World Showcase
Nintendo confirmed that the next Indie World Showcase will begin at 9 a.m. PT on Tuesday, November 14. Nintendo says the presentation will only take about 20 minutes, so you'll only need to take a little bit of time out of your morning to watch it.

Like most Nintendo presentations, the company will livestream this new Indie World Showcase across its official YouTube and Twitch channels. We've embedded the YouTube version of the showcase above so you can tune into the whole presentation right from this page.
What to expect from the November 2023 Indie World Showcase
The official announcement tweet and press release for November 2023's Indie World Showcase simply states that it will feature "new announcements and updates on indie games coming to Nintendo Switch." In terms of previously featured Indie World games that still aren't out, titles like Animal Well, Rift of the NecroDancer, and Pepper Grinder come to mind.
There are also plenty of memes on social media about Hollow Knight: Silksong showing up during the event; it's a game people have wanted to see in one of these showcases for years, but it has never shown up. Ultimately, Indie World Showcases are tough to predict because they are typically curated roundups of intriguing indie games that most people don't know about. You'll have a better time watching November 2023's Indie World Showcase if you go in with low expectations and just look forward to seeing some impressive indies you weren't aware of before.

Nintendo introduces a new Super Smash Bros. Switch OLED for Black Friday
Super Smash Bros. Nintendo Switch OLED.

Nintendo unveiled all of the Black Friday deals and bundles it plans to offer in the coming weeks. These offerings are headlined by a brand new Nintendo Switch bundle with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that has never been available before.
The Nintendo Switch -- OLED Model: Super Smash Bros. Ulitmate Bundle costs $350 and comes with a code for the fantastic 2018 crossover fighting game as well as three months of a Nintendo Switch Online Membership. The bundle's Joy-Cons feature a design based on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Unfortunately, this deal includes neither Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Fighter Passes nor the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. Nintendo says this bundle will be released on November 19, although they've already been spotted in some stores.
The other big new offering from Nintendo this holiday season is the Super Mario Party + Red & Blue Joy-Con Bundle. It costs $100 and includes a download code for Super Mario Party in addition to Red and Blue Joy-Con controllers. Keep in mind that this bundle includes 2018's Super Mario Party, not 2021's Mario Party Superstars, which remastered a lot of content from the series' older games.

Nintendo also plans to offer bundles that have been available before, like the Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Bundle and Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Switch Lite.
Various game discounts for Switch games will also go into effect on November 19. In terms of Nintendo-published games, people can expect Everybody 1-2-Switch! and Nintendo Switch Sports to be discounted by $10, titles like Luigi's Mansion 3, Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 to have $20 discounts, and for Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Mario Strikers: Battle League, and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes to all be available $30 cheaper than usual. Sadly, it does not look like Nintendo itself will offer any major deals surrounding this year's The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
All of these bundles and deals will become available on November 19.
