2k Sports Brings College Hoops to Xbox 360

2K Sports, the sports publishing label for Take-Two Interactive Software, yesterday announced they would be releasing their college basketball video game series for the Xbox 360 prior to March Madness. College Hoops 2K6 will offer new features for the next generation video game platform when it hits store shelves shortly.

College Hoops 2K6, said 2K Sports, will include enhanced player models, an expanded roster of teams and players and more detailed college arenas complete with 3D crowds and bands. These enhancements will join existing features such as pre-season and Selection Sunday broadcast shows, the â€œCoach’s Clipboardâ€ and â€œMidnight Madnessâ€.

“We are thrilled to bring College Hoops 2K6 to the Xbox 360,” said Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio, in a statement. “College basketball fans are die-hard, so we worked hard to deliver a game that would bring the intensity of college basketball to life. College Hoops 2K6 creates unique and exciting atmospheres, which are only enhanced by the power of the Xbox 360.”

Take-Two completes its massive Zynga acquisition

Take-Two Interactive, the video game publisher that owns Rockstar, 2K, and Private Division, has completed its acquisition of Zynga, the mobile game developer behind the popular Facebook game FarmVille.

On January 10, Take-Two announced it was going to acquire Zynga for $12.7 billion in its effort to expand to the mobile gaming market. On Monday, the company closed the deal without a hitch, successfully merging its gaming library with Zynga's entire library of mobile games that have been downloaded more than 4 billion times, including FarmVille and Words with Friends.

2K reportedly publishing two Lego sports games

Publishing giant 2K is partnering with Lego to produce multiple sports games, including a soccer title that is set to release later this year, according to a report from Video Games Chronicle.

Set to launch close to the start of this year's FIFA World Cup, 2K's upcoming soccer game is reportedly being developed by Sumo Digital, which has previously developed Crackdown 3, along with numerous entries in the Sonic Racing franchise. It's somewhat ironic then that 2K's second Lego game will be an open-world racing title developed by Visual Concepts, which itself has made multiple sports titles for 2K, including NBA 2K22 and WWE 2K22. The 2K Lego racing game will reportedly release in 2023. According to VGC's sources, a third Lego sports game based on a major sports franchise is also in development.

Grand Theft Auto V: Enhanced Edition, may not a free upgrade for players, according to Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick.

Answering a question during an investor relations call, Zelnick said that players would have to pay for the newest version of GTAV, saying that "there will be plenty of reasons to purchase it." It's not clear if he means that new players will have enough reasons to buy the game or if existing players will need to shell out more cash to play it on current-gen consoles.
