You would think with the impending zombie apocalypse upon us, that we here at Digital Trends would begin relentlessly stockpiling our supplies in an attempt to repel the shambling horde of undead flesheaters. Not so! Instead, we want to give you a chance to live the future, now! Virtually at least, with our Walking Dead: The Game – Episode One giveaway.

If you haven’t had the chance to play Telltale’s excellent adventure genre spin on the Walking Dead comic book series then now is your chance. We got a chance to play and review the first of the planned five part series, and you can read our take on it here (Spoiler: we liked it a lot).

It’s simple: all you need to do is register with Digital Trends, then post a comment below telling us what your favorite survival horror game is and why. On Friday May 4, we’ll randomly pick 10 lucky winners and award them a download code for the PC or Mac version of Episode One.

This contest is open to anyone 17 years and older. The winner will receive a code for use on Steam.

Good luck!

(Update: Big thank you to everyone that took the time to post and discuss. There were some truly great games mentioned and we hope you all had fun with our Walking Dead giveaway. The ten winners have been selected and download codes have been sent out. If you didn’t win don’t worry, we will have plenty more giveaways in the near future.)

The full slate will feature nine titles available across cloud, console, and PC. The full lineup looks like this:

The Walking Dead’s latest VR chapter proves I would die in a zombie apocalypse
The player chainsaws a zombie in The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Chapter 2: Retribution.

I say “apparently” because I soon swallowed those words faster than a zombie chowing down on some delicious brains.

It’s not The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution that’s to blame for my incompetence. On the contrary, the latest installment of the shooter is an expertly designed VR game filled with some of the most complex interactions I’ve ever experienced in the medium. Instead, my own hubris was my downfall, as I thought I was experienced enough to rush into combat with no plan. If my demo taught me anything, it’s that I wouldn’t last two minutes in a real zombie apocalypse.

superhot coming to xbox one in may press screenshot 01

The Xbox One era was a great time for indie games: Microsoft proved increasingly willing to support smaller developers, and Game Pass alone made it far easier for players to access a whole library of fascinating indie titles they hadn’t known about before.

Plus, the popular indie games on Xbox have plenty of other advantages, too -- they’re usually shorter than larger titles, they can be incredibly ambitious in design or premise, and if you’re buying them, they’re significantly more affordable purchases. Here are some of the best available to help you get started!
